Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup Review

Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup Review

Hi all,

Like many on IMBB, I also used to purchase normal makeup brands( normal=reasonable 🙂 ). But after following IMBB for 1 year religiously, I have now got the courage to expand my limits and go for some expensive brands.

I was looking for a new foundation with some good coverage that can hide blemishes and acne marks to some extent as I don’t use a concealer on daily basis (but I use foundation almost daily).

I have very oily skin. After doing lots of research on internet, I could finalize 2-3 foundations and zeroed-in on Estee Lauder Max Coverage foundation. It has SPF 15, completely oil free and staying power of 12-hours.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS FOUNDATION

I so desperately wanted to purchase this product for a long time that specially went to Select City Walk, Saket for this only. The SA asked me whether I want a patch test or full application. I went for full one so that I can test it for 1-2 hours before purchasing. She applied Deep shade on me and that matched perfectly. My husband said that it created a lot of difference ☺ (he showed a lot of patience that day, took me to saket from rohini only for that. I respect and love him a lot for that).

I checked the shade in natural light and it was perfect for me, indoors too, it was good. After, say, 2 hours or so, my T-zone was getting somewhat oily but I can’t complain as I have very very oily skin. Tons of oil produced daily. The foundation was intact. It’s transferable but doesn’t go away, it stays. Very very effective. Hides and conceals all blemishes and provides fullest coverage. That’s what I wanted. Fully satisfied.

Doubles up as a foundation and concealer, although I don’t have much of dark circles, but I am sure it would work. Hides acne marks really well. A very small amount is required so this will last long (as the price is a bit high so I wanted this).
MAC is definitely very good but doesn’t work for my oily skin the way this one is. I am loving it. I have now well understood that I need to touch up with loose powder but atleast, EL Max Cover allows me not to do touch ups before 3-4 hrs and that too these days, full humid season. I know I will love this more in the coming months when humidity will subside. But, it’s best for this weather too. Definitely my Holy Grail.

One more thing – after purchasing this, I went to Lancome counter too to try Teint Miracle. But there, the SA told me to try Teint Idole Ultra for oily skin. He also offered to do full application 🙂 . I was ready obviously. What made me happier was that he had a hard time removing my EL foundation. He asked me what I had on my face and said that it really is very stable and non-removable. 😛

APPLICATION
It comes in a tube and can be applied with a foundation brush, sponge or just fingers.
I usually apply it with my fingers. When I do apply it with a makeup sponge, I wet the sponge and then squeeze out the water. This prevents the sponge from absorbing a large amount of this concentrated makeup. It’s more cost effective.

Apply it in small increments and blend it for best results. I suggest using about one quarter to one eighth of the amount you might use with other liquid makeups. I also use a powder over it for a matte finish. I suggest patting the powder in thoroughly for a long wearing finish. If you have very dry skin , you may consider skipping the powder. My morning application usually lasts most of the day with only powder touch ups. I often get compliments on my “complexion” when I wear it.

PRICE
Yes. It is pricey – 2,130 for 30 ml.

PROS
• Full coverage, I mean REALLY full coverage (but does not look mask like or like you are wearing lots of makeup).
• Anyone who is insecure about dark circles, spots, scars, pigmentation problems, etc, this foundation is a wonderful product for you.
• Works as a concealer and foundation, so no need to bother with an extra concealer.
• A tiny bit goes a long way.
• Is breathable and feels light.
• Long lasting, water and sweat resistant (wanted such a thing so much).
• Can be applied with fingers or brush easily, both work fine.
• Contains SPF 15.
• Provides medium to heavy coverage.
• Their claim that it is developed in collaboration with surgeons and dermatologists – seems promising.
• Boon for oily skinned.

CONS

• Needs a good makeup remover for sure. Got to make sure you really cleanse your skin after taking this stuff off, since it is water-resistant (which is also a pro).
• Needs moisturizer for dry skinned.
• It can transfer (advertised as non-transferring) onto clothing.
• Pricey.

VERDICT
Surely a must buy. My HG for sure. Loving it and every penny spent on it. Provides flawless look, easy to apply, covers everything. All in all, a great product from a great brand – Estee Lauder.

Now the best part – I asked the SA if they have some discounts anytime the year round and she said “No mam, but I can give you a complimentary gift 🙂 . And then, I got this Estee Lauder Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara free –free- free  :). Wowwwwwwwwww….I am loving both.

WOULD I REPURCHASE IT : Yes…Yes….Yes.

IMBB RATING : 5 out of 5

I love estee lauder makeup. I have never used their foundation because the last time i tries I couldn’t find my exact match. This sounds awesome especially for brides. 🙂 hihihihi the lancome story is funny

I’ll def check this out. 🙂

  2. hey thats awesome. 2K is definitely an investment for cosmetics if they work well for you. I am currently using MAC cos MAC worked best for me but occasionally since I dont want a very heavy coverage for daily wear. Thanks to the reviews here I use my Lotus 3 n 1 matte sunblock for daily wear and thats working out great.

if anyone is aware, where does one buy EL in Hyderabad? online?

  3. Ill def keep this in mind when buying a new foundation….me too have finally started to explore hign end brands 🙂

If you know it’s Charu, then name change here is not a problem. I know it will be corrected.
And yes, the foundation is very good. One of the best for oily skinned :shy:

  5. thanks a lot Bee 🙂
As its my first review, i showed it to my husband. He also said that you have written so much that it seems like you are an agent for the product :woot: :woot:

  9. Hi … how is the shade selection for this foundation ? I mean I am like NC 45 in MAC … will the deep in EL foundations suit me ?

  10. Thanks Aruna
    Thanks Nupur
    Thanks Sugi
@lp – Yes. i wanted that double wear too but she said this one is better for more coverage n oil control

  11. nice review charu.looks like a promising product. glad u found ur HG. :)) :)) m still searching for mine.’ll give this a try nw.

  12. Sometimes the extra money is totally worth it na? I feel that way about the (very few) high end products I do own. If it hides your blemishes and stuff, it must be awesome.

  13. yes…it takes a lot of courage to spend almost 2k on a 30ml product which you know won’t last for even a year. But as they always say – base should be perfect and something to be invested upon, makes all the difference – and best thing, when it comes out good too 🙂

  14. Hi … how is the shade selection for this foundation ? I mean I am like NC 45 in MAC … will the deep in EL foundations suit me ?

  15. vow charu..this sounds so good to be true… :stars: but i recently bought the lancome one….will try this after I am done with it…

  16. Charu nice review. :)) It sure is a drool-worthy product, though I might try something more moisturizing from Estee Lauder as my skin is quite dry. This made me realize though that it probably is worth investing in particular cosmetics- for me, liquid foundation and concealer. :))

  17. @Ira – maybe it will suit you. The EL SA is very helpful and knowledgeable.
I realised only after coming home that the shade that suited me is the darkest from their range 🙂 . I am NC42 in MAC Select.

  18. @Ida – thank u so much :victory2:
I also feel this will not be suitable for dry skin. But yes, it is worth investing in foundation, concealer and also primer 🙂
