I went to Sephora ‘casually’ and ended up buying quite “some” stuff! I was strolling around the Estee Lauder and Givenchy counter when I spotted a nice shade of lipstick in Givenchy, but sadly, there were no matte formulas available with them in either of the brands. I instantly changed my mind and decided to swatch their lip pencils. I saw this very shade in Givenchy too, but somehow EL won me over.

My Experience with Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Lip Pencil 04 Rose:
Why the EL won me over is primarily because of the gold touch to it and the little brush at the other end. The pencil has a color-coded body which is dual ended with one end the lip product and a brush in the other. One side has a gold plastic cap and the other has a clear one which makes it easier to distinguish. It looks and feels luxurious and is a pleasure to carry around too.
The shade I picked up is called ‘Rose’ and I am currently into mellow shades. ‘Rose’ is actually a pink-toned n*de which is totally MY kind of everyday n*de. I am obsessing over I lately and I’ve already sharpened it twice 😛 The brush is also pretty handy and I use it to apply any other lipstick over it.
The texture is very smooth despite it being a heavy matte. It glides just like that even though my lips aren’t prepped. I usually use a balm beforehand to spare my lips the aftermath dryness that follows. Otherwise, it is dream; feels so light and invisible. Pigmentation is also very nice for a light shade. I am mostly using this alone with a lip balm on a daily basis rather than as a liner 😛 I am totally into lip liners as lipsticks these days as they are super matte.
It also goes perfectly with my Body Shop Nairobi Camilia liquid lipstick! Staying power is also very good, but not great. It survives meals easily and stays put but eventually fades. On an average, it stays for 6 hours and fades later on. Also, since it is a heavy matte, it makes my lips dry, but a lip balm will banish the problem. Otherwise, there is no major reason that would make me stop using this.
