Estee Lauder Envy Sculpting Lipstick – Impassioned

Estee Lauder Envy Sculpting Lipstick – Impassioned

I know I have been away from IMBB for a couple of weeks now – no, I did not go into hibernation! I was preparing for my kiddo’s mundan ceremony up North. It’s pretty much a mini wedding kind of event with a big gala event followed by the reception on the next day! Anyways, its over now. My little baby no more looks like a cute Girlie – and I cant dress him up in a frock and go to the mall. I guess it’s for the best – poor guy should not get gender confusion! No more Tangle Teezers, detangling conditions and serum! Phew! That’s a relief!

Back to the product in hand. When I reviewed Estee Lauder’s new collection of Envy lipsticks earlier – Rebellious Rose, Tumultuous Pink and Defiant Coral – a number of readers asked me if I had seen Impassioned and what I thought about it. So here is my review on Impassioned!

As mentioned earlier, the packaging for Envy Lipsticks is a classy square deep royal blue tube, with top and base golden in colour. The top has Estee Lauder engraved on it, so does the inner tube.

The lipsticks come in a Royal blue cardboard box. The box is seal wrapped in plastic – ensuring hygiene and non-contamination. You wont find the piece previously used or swatched!!

My experience with Estee Lauder – Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick – Impassioned:

The Color: This was the first colour I swatched from the Envy lipstick range! It looked breathtakingly gorgeous in the swatch – deep, rich, even, creamy pigmentation! Lovely! It pretty much hits you with a bang – not just the colourbut the overall quality of it. This one really takes your breath away. However, this wasn’t my first pick from the lot – you already know that. That’s because when I applied it on, it didn’t look that flattering on my skin tone. However, I couldn’t get the shade and the swatch off my mind. By the time I went back, it was already sold out – which piqued my interest further. The last straw was the readers asking me about it while I reviewed other shades. I had to get this.

The colour is Orange with ever so slight touch of coral to it. Its Orange but not warm – I’d say it’s a neutral or even a slightly cool toned orange. Its loud, however, not garish. But you need oodles of confidence to wear it. And once on, it’ll add tonnes of confidence to your stride! It will complement our Indian skin tone beautifully. It’s become one of my favorite oranges – not THE most favorite one – coz that place is reserved for YSL Pur Couture #13 Le Orange – reviewed earlier.

Texture – The texture to definitely consistent across the line – which is great coz they have amazing colours and you can pick any which suits you more and know that the quality does not variety as per colour. It is light-weight, creamy and glides smoothly on the lips. The colour hugs the lips, sculpting them perfectly, without accentuating fine lines. It was hydrating and very comfortable to wear. Even after hours of wear-time, it did not form any dry patches on the lips.
Pigmentation – The lipstick provides saturated colour pigmentation – about 95 – 100% colour deposit in one swipe. These have absolutely fantastic pigmentation. People who have pigmented lips or who generally prefer opaque colours will LOVE this! You are hit with creamy pigmentation right at the hand swatch stage and it continues on your lips.

Lasting Power: The claim made by the Company is 6 hours full coverage. It definitely delivers on the claim and goes beyond. It delivers beyond 6 hours as well, though the intensity of colour starts coming down. It leaves behind a healthy stain and fades evenly. There was no dry patch or clinging feeling.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Estee Lauder – Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick – Impassioned:

1. A very vibrant shade!
2. Would suit most skin tones.
3. Sculpts the lips with insane pigmentation
4. Easy to apply from the tube
5. Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips
6. Color lasts for 6hours plus.
7. Feels hydrating
8. The colour hugs the lips nicely – no feathering or bleeding.
9. Hides lip pigmentation well
10. Luxe and classy feel to the tube and case!

Cons of Estee Lauder – Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick – Impassioned:

1. Ease of availability across India

IMBB Rating: 5/5

If I were to take one orange to my grave, its be the YSL Le Orange. But this one stands close second coz in terms of texture and pigmentation its better – way better. But in terms of pure colour – I still prefer the YSL over this – coz it has a bit of pink in it. I would definitely want the lipstick lovers to try this brand and range, it surely beats the pants off a lot of other – in terms of range of colours, the overall quality and the understated elegance of it all!! A MUST Try!!

Lastly, a pic of my little one pre and post his mundan–I miss my little Girlie!!

  1. The quality is awesome and the beat part how confidently you carry all shades i am always shaky about…I also like the shade dominant from the range, kind of planning to buy it and rebellious rose .. what actually mundan is?

    1. Thanks for such sweet words Sumera! Dominant is another lovely shade from the range! And I love Rebellious Rose – such a unique shade!

Mundan is a ceremony in certain Hindu sects – its the shaving off of the first hair (from the head) as some pre-historic ritual dating back to another era! I have no idea why but its mighty important in my hubby’s community. Lot of pomp and show around it. Its like a mini wedding, including the post event reception!!

      1. we do the same but when the toddler is around 1-3 months maximum depending on the weather and ease and without any ceremony. Once can never have enough from estee lauder 🙂

  2. I was planning on splurging on one shade. But between this, Defiant Coral, Dominant and a couple other pinks I can’t decide! They all look amazing!

Nice review! I love pinks on you but orange shades are probably a close second! ^_^

    1. Pinks are my favourite too! Review on a pink lippy coming up soon.

The colours are so gorgeous and they have such amazing variety! it really is difficult to pick one shade…no wonder i ended up picking up a few!! Much to my hubby’s chagrin!

  3. Ohhhh… This is such a lovely color… No wonder readers were asking u about this one…. Also… Ur kiddo is so cute… I remembered my kiddo’s first mundan at 18 months age…. It was a big load off my and his head…. But i did miss my little girlie

    1. I really miss my Girlie!!! *waaa* *waaa* *waaa* Ya, it is a load of my mind – the big event is behind us. So much preparation!!

And yes, its a Gorgeous shade. When u swatch it in store – you will not be able to get over this!

    1. Thanks for the lovely words Lisha!

The toddler is dressed up in a girl’s dress – so its ok for you to have thought that!! 😉

  4. Lovely shade and looks good on you *oye balle* !! Nicely reviewed *powder*

Your kid is so cute *puchhi* !!Like the chashma wala Gandiji look 😛 !!! I remember when my niece got her head shaved off , she used to touch her head and back her hand off after realizing that there is no hair rofl rofl

    1. Thanks Sowmya – its a fab colour!

Actually, my kiddo hasn’t much registered the loss of hair – coz i mostly kept them tied up in a ponytail!

  5. awww your son is sooo cutee. :)) I loved the lip color. Very different from the mac impassioned.. I somehow had that color in mind when I saw the title. Good review. 🙂 The color looks fab on you. 🙂

    1. Yes, extremely different from MAC Impassioned! The colour is good enough to stand out on its own, just like MAC Impassioned.
