I love to wear makeup. But, I wish removing makeup was just as fun, especially stubborn and water-proof eye makeup. I find the process a bit messy and sometimes painful, because of all the extra tugging and pulling of the lid and the lashes. To avoid all that, I decided to put some extra effort in finding the right kind of eye makeup remover designed specifically for the delicate eye area. As part of that search, I bought the Estee Lauder gentle eye makeup remover. Let’s read on to know more about it.

How to Use:
Sweep over closed eyelid with cotton pad. Wait a few seconds, then wipe gently downward.

My Experience with Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover:

I usually use makeup remover wipes to remove my face makeup and for eyes, I have used various kinds of makeup removers such as micellar water, The Body Shop gentle eye makeup remover and so on. But, since they all failed me at some level or the other, I decided to invest in a better one– which, for cosmetic products, it translates to a lot more money and a better-known brand.

The product comes in a blue plastic bottle with a golden color cap. Packaging is a big let down because, the opening dispenses a lot of product at a time and causes a lot of spillage. I wish it had a smaller opening or a spray nozzle or something to prevent product wastage.

The consistency of the product is like a micellar water- water based medium with oil floating on top. The bottle has to be shaken well to evenly distribute the product and then, have to be applied on the eyes using a cotton pad. Let the soaked cotton pad sit on lids for a few seconds to break down the waterproof makeup and then, wipe it off. I used it the same way and tried to remove my eyeliner and mascara. But unfortunately, the results were not satisfactory. I had hoped to get a squeaky clean waterline and lashes, but I guess that was a wishful thinking.

Also, another let down was that although it claims to be a gentle makeup remover, it does sting my eyes when I try to clean my waterline and makes my eyes watery. I think calling it “gentle” eye makeup remover is a dishonest advertisement and they should mention in the description that it should not be used on the waterline.

Pros of Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover:

• Comes in a leak-proof bottle.
• Easily available online or in Estee Lauder stores.
• Quantity would last a while.
• Formulation is like that of a micellar water and oils in it help to break down the waterproof makeup.

Cons of Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover:

• Cheaper and better alternatives are available.
• It stings eyes if used to remove mascara or eyeliner in the waterline.
• Can be a bit pricey for some.
• The bottle opening causes a lot of spillage and wastage of product.
• It does not remove makeup as well as it claims and does leave mascara goop behind.

Do I Repurchase/ Recommend Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover?
No. This product failed to impress me, despite of the fancy brand name. There are cheaper and better alternatives available, which perform the same. If not better and personally I find cleansing balms are the best at removing stubborn and waterproof makeup.
