Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge Eau De Parfum Review

Just in time for the festive season, Estee Lauder has launched a new perfume in India. This was launched a few months back in other countries, but launched just two days back (on Friday) in India. I had already sampled this perfume and was instantly in love with it! I had to get it as soon as it was launched; and get it I did! 😛

Rs. 5900/- for 50 ml EDP, Rs. 7900/- for 100 ml EDP (There is a 30 ml version which has not been launched in India).

Packaging: It comes in a beautiful red box packaging which has all details written on it. Inside, there is an exquisite-looking glass bottle with a nozzle at the top. The bottle is shaped just like the other Modern Muse perfumes, the only difference being the red wings at the top. The perfume is slightly reddish in color, to match with the packaging and the color of the main accords of this fragrance.

Top Notes: Red currant, Raspberry, Burgeon de Cassis, Pink pepper and Saffron.
Middle notes: Bulgarian Rose, May Rose, Jasmine and Magnolia.
Base notes:Patchoulli, Vetiver, Madagascar Vanilla and Musk mallow.

My Experience with Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge Eau De Parfum:

Kendall Jenner is the face of this perfume and since she is in her early twenties; I first thought that this would be a light, girlish, an all-time wear fragrance with no particular overpowering scents. It would be a typical fragrance for most college-going girls. How wrong I was!!!!

Estee Lauder has a real long list of some of the very good, nice-smelling perfumes of all times. Their “Modern Muse” was launched in 2013; and the Modern Muse Chic was launched in 2014. I have tested both of these, and was interested in none. This year, they launched another perfume in the “Modern Muse” family – the Le Rouge version. As usual, while smelling the tester, I had no particular expectations about it. The first sniff… And Whoa!!!! I was blown away by the beauty and sexuality of this fragrance. I am a person who is more of the fruity fragrance kinds.

This one is a definite winner in both the fruity as well as the floral categories. It will smell a bit different on different people; and thereby comes the Dual Performance Fragrance Structure of this perfume.

The Dual Performance Fragrance Structure: More and more perfumeries are making fragrances along these lines so that it appeals to a broader range of people. This means, it will smell a bit different on all people. It has got two distinctive accords. On some, you will get the fruity fragrance of raspberry combined with the floral rose fragrance, but with an underlying hint of saffron and spicy pepper. The other accord is much more oriental and earthy, with the fragrance of vanilla with vetiver and patchouli and with a spicy musky smell underneath it all. It is a floral- fruity fragrance with an oriental twist, with a hint of spicy boldness in it; which makes it distinctive and prevents it from being bland or a “just another perfume” category.

I belong to the first accord – on me, it smells of roses and berries, which then settles down to a beautiful vanilla and musky fragrance. It feels a bit powdery after some time, but the hint of spices prevent it from becoming a total grandmother’s perfume. The underlying vanilla and the muskiness remains on and on providing a superb sillage.
I can declare to the world – I am in love with this new perfume. This will be perfect for night-time occasions; cold winters, snuggled up with your beloved under a quilt. While this perfume will not be in the iconic category like Chanel No. 5, YSL Opium, Guerlain Shalimar, Nina Ricci L’air du Temps – this is one perfume that’s here to stay.

There is something in it; which will definitely make heads turn. This can be worn both by youngsters as well as mature women. The underlying spiciness makes it bold, daring, yet it perfectly balances the sweetness of the perfume along with an underlying earthiness. Many of you may liken it to Exotica by Jimmy Choo or Si by Giorgio Armani, but there are subtle differences in all of them. I can wax lyrical about this perfume. This is one of the nicest perfumes released in modern times and while everyone will have a different nose for perfumes, you have to try this one! You may like it, you may hate it, but you can never ignore it; and you can never stop people from turning their heads towards you.

• Expensive.
• Limited availability in India.
• 30 ml variant not available in India yet.
