Estee Lauder Potent 310 Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick Review

I hope you aren’t tired of my neutral shade reviews from the Estee Lauder line (Impulsive, Desirable, Insatiable) 😛 Today, I have the review of the shade “Potent.” I promise I will be sharing some bright and hot shades soon with you. Till then, let’s find out more about this shade 🙂

Packaging: The lipstick comes packaged in a square deep royal blue case with golden detailing. The top has Estee Lauder engraved on it, so does the inner tube, looks very classy! And the best part is the magnetic closure!

This lipstick comes in a royal blue cardboard box. The box is seal wrapped in plastic – ensuring hygiene and non-contamination.

My Experience with Estee Lauder Potent 310 Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick:

Color: The shade “Potent” is by far my most favourite amongst this set of neutral, muted shades, and a shade which I think may be workable on a large variety of skin tones. The shade “Potent” is described as a “pink-coral n*de.” It’s like a muted pinkish coral with a luminous creamy look. It’s quite flattering and will work beautifully with a heavy eye makeup or even as an everyday shade. It’s like a n*de shade, but with enough pink in it to make it visible, flattering, and easy to carry off.

Texture:  The texture of this one is also creamy, lightweight, and glides easily on the lips. The formula is comfortable to wear and is quite hydrating, just like the other shades in the line. It doesn’t accentuate fine lines. Instead, it makes the lips look more luminous and delectable! 😉

Pigmentation: The pigmentation is good, you don’t need to build it up. Do note that it is a soft muted shade. So, even if you try to build it up, it won’t suddenly become medium pink! Unlike the other three shades that I have reviewed (Insatiable Ivory, Desirable, Impulsive), this one covers lip pigmentation very well.

Staying Power:  Like Insatiable Ivory, this one too didn’t live up to the “6-hour of full coverage” claim made by the brand. I got about 4.5 hours of wear time with this; it does not survive a meal.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Estee Lauder Potent 310 Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick:

• Beautiful – soft pinkish coral shade, quite neutral.
• Easy to apply from the tube.
• Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
• Feels hydrating.
• The color hugs the lips nicely – no feathering or bleeding.
• Despite the soft color, pigmentation is great and hides lip color well.
• Luxe and classy feel to the tube and case!
• Vanilla fragrance.
• Magnetic closure of the case.

Cons of Estee Lauder Potent 310 Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick:

• Color lasts for about 4.5 hours, falling short of the brand’s claim of minimum 6 hours of full coverage.
• I have experienced a bit of melting with a couple of shades while travelling, can’t really blame the brand on that because they aren’t meant to travel with the cargo.

I think this shade is the easiest to pull off amongst the neutral/n*de shades that I have reviewed from Estee Lauder in the last couple of days. It would work very well for office goers and you must try this, it’s a must-have shade; maybe not because I am sure there will be dupes around. However, I have personally not come across too many muted corals. Brands generally tend to make their coral shades quite bright.  If I lose this one, will I be in a hurry to replenish. No, probably not!
