I have already confessed on IMBB that my dream is to own one lipstick from every brand. Lately, I was keen on buying one from Estee Lauder. However, I wasn’t sure if investing so much on one lipstick was worth it. Who could have been better than my IMBB girlies to help me out with this dilemma! I posted my concern on Madam Gupshup and got helpful reverts and suggestions from Saloni, Meghna and Madhur. They made sure that I don’t end up investing in a drab product. However, while buying the lipstick, I opted for a shade that wasn’t reviewed on IMBB so that I can do it (priorities are changing!).
I have a small experience to share before I begin. I went ahead with Estee Lauder Lipstick in the shade Reckless. I ordered the lipstick from an online site. Shockingly, the bullet came out from the base the moment I swiped it across my lips for the first time. Helpless, I contacted the online site, but they refused the replacement since I had used the product.
I tried to explain them hard that how on earth could I have possibly known that the lipstick was not properly stuck to the base and would come out upon application just by looking at it! After repeated mails, I got a call from them and I explained them again. I told them that I am not a fraud looking for my money back after using the product.
At the end I was flabbergasted to hear “Madam, we understand your concern and it is genuine, as you couldn’t have known just by seeing the product. But since you have used the product we cannot exchange”. It was pointless talking to them beyond that. I still did not give up ‘cos I felt cheated. I tweeted to Estee Lauder with the same complaint. Though it took a little time and some follow-ups, I got a fresh lipstick from them. Plus, the lady from Estee Lauder office shared her desk number with me so that I can get in touch with her directly.
Talk about a happy and satisfied customer! Yay! I’ll surely be sharing the link to this review and IMBB with her. Experiences like these make us respect the brand much more. Having said all that, let’s see if all this pain was worth it.

My Experience with Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick Reckless:
The lipstick comes in a classic blue cardboard box with ‘Estee Lauder’ written in golden. Inside the box comes the magical product. It’s a heady bullet packaging – shiny blue in colour. The cap closes with a magnetic click, similar like Nars.
The tube is thicker than the usual lipstick tubes. The lipstick comes out to be super glossy when first opened. This actually made me not use this for 2 days. I am the kind of person who would just tear up the packaging and smear the product on my face in 2 seconds! But I literally saved it for 2 whole days!
It has a creamy texture which glides on super easily on my lips, just like a dream. It has a very sweet smell which is not bothersome at all. One swipe is so opaque on the lips that you don’t need to rub it again and again to get full colour payoff. And, the application is smooth. I always had an impression that Estee Lauder only offers good foundations and some skin care products, but this lipstick completely changed my perspective.
This is indeed a hydrating lipstick which leaves a stain after a heavy meal. It does transfer to cups etc., which was expected out of it since it is full on crème finish and not a matte or retro matte. It also has a nice sheen to it. The shade is a deep berry in nature; the kind of lipstick which brightens up the face and makes teeth look white.
This shade will suit many skin tones across the spectrum. This reminded me of Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Raspberry. Both of these lipstick belong to almost the same shade family. One thing I noticed in the bullet shape is the top slant is steeper compared to other lipsticks, which makes it easier to sharply outline the cupid’s bow.

I would recommend if you are ready to splurge on this beautiful shade and a well-known brand. I am super impressed with Estee Lauder for the way they responded to my issue. Experiences like these give them lifelong customers.
