Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick – Fireball Review
I still have a couple of YSL products to review; however, I am taking a break from my YSL collection and gonna share with you an Estee Lauder product instead.
Estee Lauder has a wide variety of lipsticks catering to different needs:
1. Pure Color Long lasting Lipstick.
2. Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick.
3. Pure Color Crystal Lipstick.
4. Pure Color Lip Shine.
5. Pure Color Sheer Matte.
6. Pure Color Sensuous Rouge.
7. Double Wear Stay in Place Lipstick.
8. Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick.
9. Estee Lauder All Day Lipstick.
I will discuss with you today a lipstick from their “Vivid Shine” range. I shared with you earlier Poppy Love and Rebel Raspberry from this range. Both, stunning colours and products. Let’s see how Fireball fared on my beauty meter.
Product Details (from the official website):
Color so vivid, it’s luminous. Light-emitting prism pearls create multi-luminous effects. For amplified color and unprecedented sparkling shine. $26 in US/INR 1735 in India.
Packaging:
The EL packaging has lots of great things to talk about:
- The lipstick consists of a square gold casing with a glass bottom reflecting the shade inside. Its very luxe, very plush and practical too!
- The glass bottom helps identify the colour in a jiffy! And I Love the EL logo on the lipstick case.
- The lipstick comes enclosed in a cardboard box which has a small cut-out, which again enables you to identify the colour.
- The box comes seal wrapped which ensures that no one else has touched or swatched the lipstick. Wish all brands did that, at least the high-end ones!
- The lipstick case closes smoothly and the tight alignment ensures that it does not come loose on its own.
My Experience with Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick – Fireball:
Color: The colour is aptly named Fireball – it’s a soft orange color with fine shimmer and sparkle in it. The shade swatches beautifully. I remember, I was in two minds whether to pick Poppy Love or Fireball when I first swatched them on my hand. However, on lips, Poppy Love was way more flattering, but I did go back for this one! The colour is soft and is easy to wear for people who want to try the shade orange, but not something as loud as say MAC Morange. The shimmer adds iridescence to the colour, making it more flattering.
Texture: The texture of the lipstick was a big let down. While Poppy Love and Rebel Raspberry were smooth textured, this one seemed gritty in the tube. So, while applying, the lips could feel the unevenness of the texture. While it still slides on smoothly, without any tug or pull – the feel of the tube is not nice. The grittiness does not translate onto the lips. Once applied, it’s still smooth; however, I did not like the grittiness which I felt while applying it.
Pigmentation: I had to swipe the lipstick a couple of times to build the color on the lips. Despite being from the “Pure Color” range, I felt it lacked the colour punch and was not very high on pigmentation – about 55% colour deposit in one swipe.
Lasting Power: The lipstick lasted for about 4 hours and did not leave much of a stain behind.
To sum this up for you:
Pros of Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick – Fireball:
- Soft vibrant colour with a constant luminous sheen.
- Easy to wear colour for people who want to try orange but are not comfortable with the intensity or loudness of a full-on orange shade.
- Easy to apply from the tube.
- Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
- Does not hydrate but doesn’t dry out the lips either.
- There was no feathering.
- Luxe feel to the tube and case!
- Comes in a sealed packaging.
- Practical packaging – easy to identify colour from.
Cons of Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick – Fireball:
- The lipstick feels gritty in the tube.
- The colour needs to be built up – which kind of negates the “Pure Color” branding.
- Leaves no stain behind.
- Pigmentation had to be built up.
IMBB Rating:
Yes, it’s a 3/5.
The colour is easy on the eyes, but not something which you NEED to have in your stash. There are better orange hues out there. Also, in terms of texture, did not like the grittiness I felt while applying from the tube. If you had to pick one shade from the Vivid shine range – this need not be it.

the texture doesn’t seem flattering.. the packaging is gorgeous!! *pompom*
My other 2 Vivid shines are not gritty – i think there is inconsistency in the product line. Try before you buy! Packaging is fab – no wonder it got copied by Faces and Bourjois!
yeah you are right it does look gritty. first i thought it was just the pics may be. but it does look very pretty on you. :))
*thankyou* Rati! Yes, i remember that the tester for Magnetic Magenta was also gritty. i guess its different texture quality for different shades. Sad!
