Estee Lauder Stay-in-Place ShadowCreme Review

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place ShadowCreme

Until pretty recently I was oblivious to the cream variety of eye shadows. I was introduced to them, and the magic they can create on one’s eyelids, by watching makeup videos on YouTube. Cream eyeshadows not only work as great bases, but are also a great alternative for their powder and liquid counterparts. Estee Lauder offers Double Wear Stay-in-Place Shadowcreme (fancy name!) that is guaranteed to give you vibrant color and stay in place for 15 hours(on your lids)! I decided to check their cream eyeshadows out. Estee LAuder Stay in Place Shadow Creame According to Estee Lauder’s website:

  • “Creme eyeshadow delivers intense color that lasts up to 15 hours and goes on fast.
  • It’s stay-true color at your fingertips with matte to demi-pearl finishes.
  • Creamy formula goes on smoothly, blends easily.
  • Seamless coverage won’t crease or fade.
  • Can be worn alone or layered under powder eyeshadow.
  • For all skin types and ideal for mature skin as it minimizes pulling and tugging of the delicate eyelid.”
  • They’re available in a variety of shades, with some limited edition colors. I’m currently looking for Wild Orchid 🙂 (My Macy’s was out of stock though!! 🙁 )

Here are the shades they offer: Estee LAuder Stay in Place Shadow Creame Shades EsteeLauder.Com Price: The product is $17.50 which is roughly Rs. 820. The product is also available on StrawberryNet.Com for Rs. 982.50, the website currently ships this product for free! Use: I was introduced to this product while getting my makeup done at the Estee Lauder counter at a department store. The makeup artist used it as a base (with no primer) and layered powder eyeshadows on top of it. The makeup lasted all night, and did not crease at all! I currently use the shadow both as a base and on its own. Since it is a very thick cream, I use a concealer brush to apply it (though in a hurry my fingers work just fine). I own the shadows in Precious Jade and Vintage Violet. Estee LAuder Stay in Place Shadow Cream Pot What I Like about the Product:

  • It really DOES last all day. Once I put it on it stays put until I wash my face thoroughly or use a makeup remover.
  • No Primer needed. I have oily lids that shadow just slips off and need to use a primer if I’m wearing makeup for more than an hour. I don’t need to use a primer under this at all and when I use it as a base for other shadows, it makes them stay put too!
  • No creasing. Before this I tried Revlon’s cream eyeshadow that creased ridiculously even over my primer. This one did not disappoint at all.
  • Vibrant color. The color is buildable and in about two swipes the colors show up as vibrant on my lid as they are in the bottle and look like that all day.
  • You get a LOT of product, one pot is probably going to last you years even with frequent use.
  • Versatility. I use this as a base, shadow and also as a liner. Just use a liner brush and it works great as a liner too!
  • It comes in a super cute pot. It’s glass and has a golden lid with the Estee Lauder logo on it.
  • The texture of the shadow is very creamy.

Estee LAuder Stay in Place Shadow Cream Colours What I didn’t Like:

  • The price is quite steep for an eyeshadow. But taking into consideration how well it works it is worth the money.
  • Blendability. Once I put it on my lids, it’s really hard to blend. When using it as a shadow, it’s impossible to blend it in with another color, so you basically have to wear it as a wash over you lid. It doesn’t interfere with blending the shadows on top of it when I use it as a base though, so I won’t complain much.

Verdict: Man I wish I had 10 hands to give this product 10 thumbs up! For me it’s my HG cream shadow! Rating This product gets…. FIVE STARS! Source So if you’re ready to hit the Estee Lauder counter either for this product or another, here are some fun facts about the brand!

  1. ohhhh what a research … i knew EL owns mac and then this clinique MUA told me they are also same group i was like ohhh m still amature ….
    i love cream e/s but benefit’s one
    will see EL next …
    thanks for lovelly post devika

    1. Thanks Rashmi!
I haven’t tried Benefit’s cream shadow, but am definitely adding that to my wishlist now. I really am growing to love cream shadows a lot (as long as they stay on my lids) they’re so great for the summer!
Just a quick question for you (and everyone else)…have you ever worn two different cream shadows to create a look on you lid? How did that work out?

    1. Thanks Aarthi…yeah im still confused as to how once can wear two cream shadows together!
The price is quite steep but honestly you get a LOT of product…i mean this may sound far fetched but if worn frequently the whole pot would easily last you two years!

  2. Actually I disagree on the price factor. Estee Lauder is a luxury brand so we really cannot argue on the price much. Mac paint pot is around 1100 bucks so this is still cheaper. Btw, we don’t have this in India. 🙁 Just found out….

  3. these are so lovely! i am seriously tempted too!
the prices of estee lauder don’t work that way in india. i have their signature hydra lipstick that’s for $19.50 which roughly translates to 920 bucks if you assume a dollar to cost 47 rupees (as you have) but the lipstick actually cost me 1800 bucks. these can no way be cheaper than mac paint pots rati! estee lauder is bloody expensive!
.-= Rima Kaur´s last blog ..Beneath The Smiles =-.

    1. @ Rima… I had no idea about that! That’s pretty crazy. I guess the better option then is to order these products online. As long as the shipping is low/free!
