Etude House DIY Travel Baking Powder Cleansing Tissue Review

Hi IMBBians,

This tissue all about trying to make my makeup removal process less tedious. Like I mention in all my reviews of makeup removal products, I love to wear makeup but despise the makeup removal process. The makeup removing process is messy, time consuming and annoying especially after a long tiring day. The makeup removing wipes do make the process a little easier and considerably mess free, even if they don’t leave face squeaky clean. The one in this review is part of my recent Korean makeup haul.

My Experience with Etude House DIY Travel Baking Powder Cleansing Tissue:

I use makeup wipes every day to remove my makeup and clean my face. I have tried the usual drugstore brand wipes such as the ones by Equate, Garnier and Aveeno and they all have their pros and cons. Recently, I have been trying makeup wipes by Korean brands. I tried and reviewed the one by Innisfree. I use at least two wipes a day and hence it is a bit expensive to use higher end wipes on every day basis. The wipes that get thumbs up from me are the ones by MAC, but they are definitely expensive for me for daily use and a cheaper alternative is essential for me.

I usually use makeup remover wipes to remove my base makeup – my face and neck. For eyes, I either soak the wipe with a makeup remover or micellar water and let it sit on my eyes for a few seconds and then I gently wipe off the makeup or I use cleansing balms to break down my makeup and use the wipe to remove the mess. The wipe works well for these purposes, but it is not sufficient on its own. This is the case with all the makeup wipes I use, so now I don’t count it as a disadvantage anymore rather it is a feature that we have to bear in mind.

Etude House DIY Travel Baking Powder Cleansing Tissue Flap

Wipes come in a packet with a flap to cover the opening that dispense the wipes. The wipes are not soaking wet, but still work fine at removing my base makeup and lip color. But, when it comes to removing eye makeup, it does not perform satisfactorily and is unable to completely remove gel eyeliner or mascara.

This wipe has no fragrance whatsoever which works well for me. It removes the base makeup really well and whatever it can’t, I try to break down with a cleansing balm or a good micellar water and then wipe it off with the wipe. Sometimes I even apply some face wash on the wipe and use it like a wash cloth – I really try to use a single wipe as best as I can and obtain maximum use out of it. This product also claims to contain baking powder which is good for gently exfoliating the skin.

Pros of Etude House DIY Travel Baking Powder Cleansing Tissue:

  • Affordable makeup removing wipes.
  • Efficiently removes base makeup and one wipe is enough for face and neck.
  • Does not cause acne or breakout.
  • Does not have any fragrance and claims to contain baking soda which is a gentle skin exfoliant.
  • Packaging is hygienic, dispenses product easily and is travel-friendly.
  • Does not dry out skin like some makeup removers do.
  • The flap on top of the packaging keeps the process mess free and sanitary.

Cons of Etude House DIY Travel Baking Powder Cleansing Tissue:

  • Does not remove eye makeup, unless one is okay with vigorous rubbing of that area – I prefer to use a cleansing balm or a good micellar water.
  • Quantity is not enough and if used a wipe a day, it will not last long.
  • Packaging has no description in English and the official English website of Etude House is not professionally made and lack sufficient information.
