Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser Review

Hi Beauties,

I have been spending the past few weeks mostly trying out new skin care products; which I intend to use over the coming winters. My skin is normal to combination type, which gets dry in winter. Thankfully, my skin has never been “the very dry types” where the skin actually starts cracking and bleeding and becomes painful. Good hydration is one of the major factors in keeping the moisture level of the skin optimum.  I have been recently fascinated by some international brands, after seeing their effect on my relative’s skin, who lives in the UK. The winters there are extremely harsh, but she has a gorgeous, glowing and radiant skin even during winters. I got a few samples while browsing the various beauty counters in UK. I used the samples, loved some of them and bought quite a few products online (after coming back to India), from both the British as well as the French pharmacy brands. Out of the lot, today, I am going to review a cleanser. This product is quite gentle, hence can be used by all skin types.

A lightweight balm for Cleansing-Exfoliating-Reviving. Face each day feeling renewed and looking radiant.  This quick and easy rinse off cleansing balm is the perfect companion to the legendary Eve Lom cleanser. Its signature blend of aromatic Hops for its skin toning properties, Eucalyptus to keep skin radiant and glowing, Egyptian Chamomile oil to soothe, and Clove Oil for antiseptic benefits; leaves the skin soothed, refreshed and glowing.  The addition of Papaya Fruit Enzymeexfoliates the skin gently and helps to decongest and minimise the appearance of pores; whilst Carrot Oil, an excellent source of pro-vitamin-Ahelps stimulate collagen production, also suitable for removing makeup.  The morning time cleanser is designed to revive the skin upon waking. For optimum results, combine the use of the Morning Time Cleanser with the original Eve Lom Cleanser in the evenings for healthy looking, radiant skin. Suitable for all skin types and makeup removal.

How To Use:

Warm a small amount of cleanser between hands and use circular movements to massage it to dry skin. Leave cleanser onto the face for 2-3 minutes, then rinse off with water.Discontinue use if signs of irritation occur.

My Experience with Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser:

I had heard a lot about this brand, and about its price. The original Eve Lom Cleanser comes in a pot, and has some exfoliating particles in it. It also has mineral oil in it. Also, it is way too costly.  I personally don’t like using products out of pots, and I don’t think that exfoliating my face every time I cleansed my skin was such a good idea for winters. Also, a muslin cloth had to be used with it. When I went through their list of other cleansers, I found this one, which was reasonably priced, came in a tube with no exfoliating particles, gentle enough to be used by anyone at any time of year; did not have any mineral oil in it, did not need any additional muslin cloth; and still retained all the good ingredients which the original cleanser boasts of. I immediately bought this, and have been using this since a few weeks, and have been WOW-ed by it.

The cleanser comes in a white tube packaging, inside a white box. The box has all the details written on it; and the box is most probably made of some recycled paper (I think!). All in all, I like its simple and sturdy and eco-friendly packaging. There is a distinctive fragrance of clove oil to the entire product.

The tube inside is white in color, opaque, squeeze-through and has a lid on top. You just have to twist the cap clockwise or anti-clockwise to stop or start the flow of product. The product comes out through a hole placed centrally on the lid. This makes the product very hygienic, and also prevents degradation of ingredients.  The lid system , however has a loophole, when you twist it open and squeeze the tube, the product comes out; but when you twist it back to closed position, a little bit of product pops out. This I find extremely irritating; so now I take only a little bit during opening, and add it to the bit which comes out during closing.

The product is thick, creamy, has a distinct fragrance of olive oil. It is actually a gentle balm, which turns into a subtle oil-like consistency. It has to be applied on the face first thing in the morning before wetting your face….and WHAM!!!! The clove oil mixed with herbs mixed with burnt leather kind of smell assaults your senses (don’t worry, it goes off fast, but while it lasts, it is barely tolerable). It spreads on skin quite easily and looks transparent on the face. There are papaya enzymes in the formulation, which help to gently exfoliate the skin (and this seems really, really mild, so it is quite appropriate for daily use).

I usually apply some night cream or treatment during the night. In the morning, before I wash my face, I take a minute bit of cleanser and massage it all over my face. Then I brush my teeth, and at the end, rinse my mouth and wash off my face with water and Lo and Behold!!!!….I get the most smoothest, soft, supple, radiant and glowing skin. Yes, my skin actually glows, and that puts a wide smile onto my face.  After the first 2-3 washes, I am noticing my skin getting clearer, with cleaner pores and reduced blackheads on my T-zone.

This has been marketed as a gentle morning time cleanser; and it is a very gentle cleanser, so even though it cleanses, it will not completely remove a full face of makeup. But then, what are cleansing oils for????? This can be used as a second rinse in your two-step regime.

All in all, I am in love with this cleanser. The packaging has some problems, and the fragrance may be a little too much for some people, but the quality of the product is excellent. I am glad that they have not made any idle or exaggerated promises, and have delivered what they intended to. Hats off EVA LOM – a great product indeed.

• Cap does not open fully, it just twists to open and closed position – so as to decrease air contact.
• Thick, creamy texture.
• Applies like a gel or oil-like transparent texture on the skin.
• Top most fragrance like that of clove oil.
• Has to be applied on dry face, kept for 2-3 minutes, and then rinsed off.
• Leaves a gorgeous, soft and radiant glow to your face in the morning.
• Does not break me out.
• Does not cause any stinging or watering of eyes.
• Contains some excellent natural ingredients in it.
• Will last a long time.

Cons of Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser:

• Expensive.
• Not available in India.
• Being a gentle cleanser, does not work very well on a face full of makeup.
• The lid does need some adjustment.

IMBB Rating:

Despite the defect with the lid and the slight off putting smell, I still give it a 5 on 5.

Would I Repurchase Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser?

Yes of course, it has become my must-have for winters.

Yes, I will.  This is Eva Lom morning time cleanser….they have actually specified its role here and it really works best in the morning hours to remove any night cream or face masks and to bring out the full potential of the face in the morning.  You look radiant, you feel fresh and confident enough to go out there to conquer the world!
