Hope the new year has started very well for you all. Being born a woman is such a blessing. Isn’t it? Being able to give birth and nurture it is such a godsent feeling. But with great power come great responsibilities and with that come greater challenges. Among numerous health challenges that we face in our lifetime, one that has taken the biggest toll is PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Sounds familiar? What is PCOS
PCOS is a medical condition in which a woman’s body undergoes an imbalance of hormones like oestrogen and progesterone. This imbalance, after a period of time, leads to the formation of cysts in the ovaries. This imbalance causes various anomalies in the body, like irregularities in the menstrual cycle, excessive hair growth in various body parts, issues with fertility, blood pressure issues etc.
How does one get PCOS
While today’s medical fraternity hasn’t confirmed the exact cause of PCOS, there is an array of triggers which have caused the previous victims fall prey to this disease, like, genetic inheritance, excessive insulin, obesity etc. But most importantly, it is caused due to negligence.
What are the symptoms of PCOS
How to know if it has knocked? Pay attention if your body exhibits any of these symptoms:
• Excessive weight gain or weight loss
• Irregular menstrual cycle
• Excessive hair growth on face and other body parts
• Hair loss in patches
• Fertility issues

So consult your doctor, hit the gym if you have to and get yourself a complete clinical diagnosis. Don’t shy away from medication. Do all that you can!
