Hope you all are fine. In this post, I’m going to discuss a concept called ‘Reverse shampooing’. I’m sure you all would have heard this somewhere but, many of you are not aware of its benefits. So, here I will be discussing the method and its benefits in detail. Let’s get started.
What is reverse shampooing?
The reverse shampooing method is nothing but the same procedure in reverse order. Instead of applying your shampoo first, one should use a conditioner. In general, women with thin and fine hair skip using a conditioner as it provides them with flat and greasy hair. So, this reverse shampooing technique works great for such women. Also, if you are one among those women who loves to try new techniques, you can give this method a try.
How to perform reverse shampooing?
Step 1: Take a coin-sized amount of the conditioner, and apply it on wet hair.
Step 2: Leave it for a few minutes. It is important to note that you don’t have to wash off the conditioner.
Step 3: Dampen your hair with a little amount of water. Take a good amount of shampoo, and wash your hair.
How reverse shampooing works?
In the traditional way of shampooing, shampoo tends to wash away the natural oils from your hair. Reverse shampooing prevents the natural oils from washing away. However, when you use the conditioner first, it acts as a barrier between the hair and shampoo and thus allowing it to clean your hair gently without causing any further damage to hair. For women with thin hair, the shampoo only acts as a thin layer of conditioner on their hair. But, in the traditional way of shampooing, the conditioner is applied in the end which leaves a residue on their hair thereby, resulting in thin and flat hair. Reverse shampooing can do the conditioning part without leaving it the way it used to be in the traditional wash.
What to expect from this process?
Women with thin and fine hair can expect good results from this process, as they do not need much conditioner. It makes their hair silky and more voluminous. Women with thick or color-treated hair are advised not to expect much from this process. Both the hair types need more conditioning and in this process, the conditioner gets washed off in the beginning itself.
Will the regular shampoo and conditioner work for this process?
Yes, your regular shampoo and conditioner can also work, except for the fact that the conditioner has to be thick, and the shampoo needs to be mild. However, there are few shampoos and conditioners available in the market for the same purpose. It will be more beneficial if you use a product that is formulated for a specific purpose.
