How to Make Exercise Less Painful

How to Make Exercise Less Painful

Fitness takes effort and pain to give results, and though little soreness during and after exercise is normal, too much of it can derail you from your workouts completely.

If you want to start off your morning routine with exercise then mentioned below are few tips that will help you make your fitness routine a little exciting and less painful to follow each day.

• A gradual warm session is a must before you start off any physical activity. Warming up before you work out increases both your body temperature and the blood flow to your muscles, which can help prevent injury. Choose a warm up that’s appropriate to your workout. So if you’re a jogger or swimmer, try a few laps at a slower pace. After warming up, stretch well for five to 10 minutes before continuing your workout. Breathe and stretch deeply to counteract side stitches and cramps.

• Wear the right shoes and clothing. Opt for well fitting clothes that aren’t too loose or tight that they hamper your movement. Invest in a good pair of shoes that are made for the specific type of exercise or sport you do to lessen the chances of possible foot and joint pain.

• Maintain a proper body posture when doing an exercise. Avoid slouching or performing a move incompletely. If you’re not sure how to do a certain exercise, ask for a demonstration before you try it on your own and hurt yourself.

• Experiment with different forms of physical activity to find an option that doesn’t cause you pain and then give your body some time to adjust to it.

• Do not just stop abruptly at the end of your workout as it can lead to blood pooling in your feet and legs and irregular heartbeats. A gradual cool down at the end of your exercise is just as important as your warm up. So keep moving at a slower pace until your heart rate comes back to normal. Walk at an easy pace for five to 10 minutes, then perform full-body stretches, paying extra attention to the parts of your body where you feel the most pain.

If you continue experiencing pain or develop a new severe pain, contact a medical professional for an assessment.

To continue to improve your fitness, keep challenging yourself, but don’t overdo it. Listen to your body, allow it to rest and recover 1 or 2 days per week. If you don’t give your body some rest, you will burn out and get injured. Enjoy yourself and you will actually look forward to your workouts.
