It had been many days I had done any look, I thought I’d give one a shot today. On most days I post my best looks (atleast the one I think are 😛 ) but this did not turn out to be great. I made many mistakes in this one. So I thought i’d go ahead with this and make this post more of a learning lesson kinda post. It might help a few of you to prevent making the same mistakes I made. 🙂
Oh! after the first eyeshot, my camera died so I had to use my handycam so the pics are not as vibrant. Too many things happened in a single day. 😛
Anyway, following was the look I wanted to create. Not with the same colours though but with the same technique. I read the instructions. They have applied a shimmery silvery eyeshadow base all over the lid uptil the brow, a black matte eyeshadow on lid and blended the top of black shadow with a silvery eyeshadow. eyeliner on lash line, mascara and lower lashline is left clear.
So I started . I applied a shimmery golden eyeshadow all over the lid uptil the brow and the applied ” a shimmery” eyeshadow all over the lid.
Mistake No 1 : I shouldn’t have applied a shimmery shadow over a shimmery base. It became overly shiny and the shadow was looking all over without giving any definition to the eye. I should have gone ahead with a matte base and a shimmery shadow on top to balance the look.
Mistake 2 : To give definition to the eye I thought I’d correct the look by adding a matte black eyeshadow in the crease. Honestly , rather than doing that I should have just wiped my eye and started all over again. Once the look starts going out of hand, it becomes a pain to correct it. Atleast , I personally feel that you can still make it work but it gets super difficult to achieve the exact look you were aiming for. Or you have to be a super pro to make anything work for you. I have a long way to go. 🙂
Mistake 3 : For my eye shape , I should never be applying shimmer on my brow bone. I went blindly with the instructions and applied shimmer shadow till the browbone. It was so not pleasing to my eye. My brow bone started looking all the more heavy. So, follow the instructions but do what suits best on you. 🙂
Learning : If you want to do a smokey eye for day time, applying eyeshadow just on the upper lid and nothing on the lower lid works great. If you see my full face shot, the smokey eye is not looking heavy or something people would find difficult to pull off. you don’;t have to worry about panda eyes at all. Also, if black is too heavy a shade for you you can go with browns as well.
