Fabindia Jasmine Calming and Rejuvenating Soap

Fabindia Jasmine Calming and Rejuvenating Soap

Calming and rejuvenating soap made using jasmine oil.

I am a fan of handmade, fragrant soaps. I keep buying them every now and then for bathing and also for gifting. I believe handmade soaps do have some aesthetic feel in them. This Diwali I gifted my friends these baskets which included chocolates, candles and some handmade soaps, which they really liked.

Okay, so I bought some handmade soaps from Fabindia a few days back. Sharing with you here my thoughts on one 🙂

Fabindia Jasmine Calming and Rejuvenating Soap

Fab India Soaps are available in a large number of variants. I have tried the Lavender, Almond and Oatmeal, and this Jasmine one. Out of these three, Almond and Oatmeal is my favourite, as it does some exfoliation.  I will also try the Rose soap which Jomol reviewed.

What is Jasmine?
Jasmine

Jasmine (Jasminum officinale) is a flowery shrub containing white or yellow flowers, native to Mediterranean countries (although there are a considerable number of people that say it comes from India).  The shrub has a ramified crown, angular green long twigs, obtuse flowers and it is cultivated as a decorative plant (Jasminum fretticans), or for its industrial and medicinal uses. The flowers can be small or large, white with a nice perfume that increases in strength in the evening. Jasmine grows quickly.  Jasmine is widely cultivated for the characteristic fragrance of their flowers.
Jasmine is enjoyed in the garden, as a house plant, and as cut flowers. The flowers are worn by women in their hair in southern and Southeast Asia.  Also, the Chinese civilization is widely known for its big consumption of jasmine tea during autumn and winter.  Jasmine is called chameli in India.

My Experience with Fabindia Jasmine Calming and Rejuvenating Soap:

Now, jasmine is one fragrance I love since childhood. Jasmine is a typical sweet, delicate, flowery, feminine fragrance. Coming to this Fabindia jasmine soap, the prime reason I got this was for the fragrance and also the words like “calming” and “relaxing” seemed interesting to me.  I am happy that I got this and thereby got 50% relaxed/calmed already 😀 😀 😀

FabIndia Jasmine soap

The soap is packed simply, in clear, plastic film and there is a paper label attached on it.  The soap gives moderate amount, pleasant jasmine fragrance, but nothing that is overpowering or can intoxicate you :P, but yes, it does fill my bathroom with jasmine fragrance (which my dad actually hates and shouts on me all the time for using such soaps/shower gels 😀 )

I don’t think it meets the calming/relaxing claim a lot, but yeah, it does feel nice to bathe with a soap which smells nice.

The soap is very soft and dissolves very fast. It lasts for not more than 2 weeks. It’s a clear soap and has no exfoliating particles.  The soap lathers up and cleans well. I wish it had some moisturising effect on the skin. I guess, it’s basically a fragrant soap and if you have normal to oily body skin, you can easily try this out.

Overall, it’s an average/decent hand-made soap. At the price, I won’t consider it bad. My favourite handmade soap till date is Forrest Essentials Luxury sugar soap. Which one is yours?

Pros of Fabindia Jasmine Calming and Rejuvenating Soap:

  • Smells great, of jasmine which I like a lot.
  • The jasmine fragrance is not strong, very mild.
  • It a clear soap, which cleans well.
  • Is not harsh on the skin, does not dry it up.
  • Lathers up well.
  • Fairly priced.
  • Easily available.

Cons of Fabindia Jasmine Calming and Rejuvenating Soap:

  • Not very moisturising.
  • Dissolves very fast, lasts for not more than 2 weeks.
  • I like soaps with exfoliating particles, but this contains none.

  7. Muzhe jasmine pasand nai. 😐 😐 My Ma used to make me wear jasmine garland in my hair as a kid and I hated them. :yuck: But I like jasmine perfumes on some days.I just borrow my Ma’s jasmine perfume whenever I want because I don’t wear it that often and getting a bottle for myself would be a waste.
But this seems pretty nice! :)) I prefer more bubly and energetic fragrances for bathing so this really isn’t my cup of tea.But I have a friend who’ll love it.I’ll show her this review and let her decide whether she wants it. :teeth
