FabIndia Lavender and Basil Calming and Relaxing Bathing Bar Review

I used to find the FabIndia range of soaps quite fascinating, but for some reason or the other, I did not have an occasion to try out any of these soaps until my friend gifted it to me a couple of weeks back. So, today, I am going to review this soap for you here.

My Experience with FabIndia Lavender and Basil Calming and Relaxing Bathing Bar:

Well, as I have already said, this was the first time that I used any of those good-looking soaps sold by FabIndia. Naturally, I was quite excited! I had tried to inhale the fragrance while the soap was still tightly packed, but that didn’t amount to much; it was not perceptible that way. So, I started to open the packaging. It was sealed with a violet-colored paper wrapping and two layers of transparent plastic sheets beneath. My agile fingers worked rapidly to do away with the packet so that I could take the soap in my hand and experience the soothing lavender fragrance that it promises.

The bathing bar is transparent having a light violet-blue tinge. The texture is much akin to candle-wax, which is neither very soft nor hard. I love the see-through nature of the bar! The lavender-basil smell is very mild. It lathers well and is efficient for cleaning the skin of all dirt and impurities. It gives a fresh feeling too, but the fragrance doesn’t linger for long on skin and it feels dry immediately after a bath. However, in the long run, the skin doesn’t become as dry as it might seem just after a bath; the intensity of dryness it gives is not a problem if your skin is not naturally very dry or scaly or say, it is not winter time.

Pros of FabIndia Lavender and Basil Calming and Relaxing Bathing Bar:

  • It is known to be full of the goodness of lavender oil and basil oil.
  • It also contains coconut oil, glycerine and cotton seed oil.
  • It is nicely packaged.
  • It is a transparent bar and comforting light violet-blue hue, which adds to its beauty.
  • The fragrance is mild and soothing.
  • It lathers all right and cleans the body effectively.
  • It does not melt and hence, no wastage involved.
  • It does not leave the skin excessively dry and rough, as many regular soaps do.
  • It is affordable at Rs. 65 for 100 g.
  • Since FabIndia is against animal testing, it has not been tested on animals.

Cons of FabIndia Lavender and Basil Calming and Relaxing Bathing Bar:

  • It contains SLS (though this can be a necessity as a cleansing agent).
  • Though it does not make the skin very dry, it definitely loses the game when compared to moisture-rich soaps like Dove and creamy body washes like Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash.
  • The fragrance does not linger on the skin for long.

Final Verdict:

The bathing bar is good (with all the pros mentioned). It surely does a decent job as a soap. It is definitely worth a try, though I do not find anything extraordinarily superior about it.
