I love to try out new facial cleansers and keep a pile of my all-time favorite cleansers and face washes in my stash. According to me, a good facial cleanser should lather decently, clean skin, and should not leave my face dry and stretchy, especially since my skin is very dry to begin with. I have tried a few drugstore brands such as Aveeno, Cerave, Cetaphil and so on, and although, they were not as drying, they were not too moisturizing as my dry skin desires. So, I continued my search and bought a bunch of face cleansers from different Korean brands. In this post, I would be reviewing The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rice Bran Foaming Cleanser.

My Experience with The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rice Bran Foaming Cleanser:
The packaging of this product is atypical of The Face Shop products – packaging is in pastel shades with the brand stamp. The size of the tube is 150 ml and has a flip cap to dispense product when the tube is squeezed. The product is dispensed in a foam form but is not too “foamy” like a hand wash.
Most of the description of this product, on the packaging and the website, is in Korean and this a big disadvantage for other consumers across the world. Since, I have had good experience with the Korean skin care products, I decided to invest in this cleanser without any further information about it except its flavor.
I have been using this face wash twice daily and it was satisfying to note that it doesn’t dry out my skin or give that stretchy feeling to skin as most other face washes do. So, apparently, it is low on alcohols and sulphates because my skin catches these two ingredients immediately. It contains glycerin, water and stearic acid in high concentration hence the slippery feel to it and also the lack of dry feeling after usage.
The fragrance of this product is not very pleasing and is not a selling point of this product; however, it does not smell of alcohols or other preservative and that is more important for me. It has a thick, cream-like texture and when mixed with a few drops of water, it lathers up nicely and leaves face squeaky clean. Overall, I am impressed with this product and do advice others to try it out.
Pros of The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rice Bran Foaming Cleanser:
- It is an affordable face wash, which comes in a generous size tube.
- The packaging is easy to store (can be kept upright in the cabinet) and is travel friendly, leak proof.
- Has no artificial color.
- It has a thick, cream-like consistency and lathers nicely, however, it is not as foamy as hand wash.
- It removes dirt, makeup and clears out pores.
- It does not strip skin of its natural skin and moisture. The high concentration of glycerin and water ensure that is does not give a stretchy feeling to skin.
- It is alcohol and sulphate free.
Cons of The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rice Bran Foaming Cleanser:
- Availability can be an issue for some but some Korean websites do ship to India as well.
- The fragrance is not very pleasing and is a let-down for me since I covet Korean brands for their soothing, natural aroma.
- The description is not available in English and that is a disadvantage for people like me.
It is an affordable face wash which performs well. It comes in a generous quantity, add moisture to skin and easily removes dirt and makeup. I enjoy using this face wash every day and recommend it to others as well, especially those who are not too picky about the fragrance of their skin care products.
