Faces eyeshadow brush

Soft nylon bristles. Use with eye powders to define, blend or contour.

Directions For Use:

FACES Eyeshadow Brush is excellent for contouring, shaping and blending. Since joining IMBB, I have started looking at eyeshadows in a completely different light. This is an effect of reading so many eye makeup tutorials and being in total awe of how gorgeous eyeshadows can make our eyes look. I decided I must get some for myself and have since ordered an 88 palette which will arrive soon hopefully. Till date, the only eyeshadow I have used was from a makeup kit I had as a child. I used to smear the bright colors on my lid while getting ready for kiddie parties. In fact, any time I got ready for a special event, I would use everything in the kit- eyeshadow, mascara, blush, lipstick, even face powder. The only thing I didn’t/couldn’t use was eyeliner/kajal. For some reason, they are never included in such kits, I wonder why.

One day, I was going to pick up my mom from her workplace, but she was taking too long to come. So, I went inside one of the small grocery stores nearby with the intent of checking out the makeup counters. I had heard that there was some offer on certain brands. When I entered, I realized that there were no actual makeup brand counters. The only cosmetics they were selling were very cheap, locally made nail paints, very bad quality stuff.  So, I turned around to leave when I spotted the Faces Cosmetics logo on some hair accessories. I had heard a lot about the Faces eyeshadow brush and wanted to buy it, now that I would actually own some eyeshadows.

I went back to check out that section and sure enough it was Faces, but they only had hair bands, hair brushes, no makeup. I kept looking around but I only saw more hair accessories, nail files. The stuff was hung on a rotating stand and I almost gave up and spun the stand one last time and sure enough, there was the Faces brush I wanted so badly.  I quickly bought it and went back to wait for my mum.

Later, when I got back home, I wanted to test it out. There was just one problem. NO EYESHADOW! Well, except for the ones from the kiddie makeup kit. I swatched a navy blue color from the kit, first with a finger and then with the brush. With the finger, the color applied extremely sheer and was barely visible, but the brush picked up enough color and applied it evenly. It was then that I realized that even such average quality eyeshadows could turn out so pigmented with a good brush. I can’t compare it with other eyeshadow brushes because I don’t own any. The brush bristles are neither too flat nor too fluffy. The shape is such that it can be used both as a shader brush and a blending brush. The brush bristles are fluffy and well-shaped. I washed the brush once or twice and it didn’t shed a single hair or lose shape. I really look forward to using this brush and learning to wear eyeshadow like a pro. I might even purchase another one if I need to later on.

comparison

The brush is about the same length as an average gel pen.

Pros:

  • Reasonably priced.
  • Sturdy construction.
  • Doesn’t shed.
  • Doesn’t lose shape after washing.
  • Can be used as both a shader brush and a blending brush.
  • Light and easy to use, neither too long nor too short.

Cons:

Nothing.

Overall Rating:

4/5. One point reduced because there could be better brushes in the market.

Conclusion:

This is a great budget buy which does the job well. I definitely recommend it to everyone, especially makeup novices, who want a good quality inexpensive eyeshadow brush to practice before investing in high-end ones, though frankly, you may not need to.

    1. Hey Shruti, I ordered the shimmer palette which is called “Makeup Pro flash 88 full color eyeshadow palette” on the site. I ordered this along with a few other smaller items about a week and a half ago. The other items have already been delivered but they informed me about a warehouse shortage of the palette. They told me they would send it if available in a few days or give me a refund for the palette. Still waiting for the palette.
I did use paypal with my dad’s credit card. I think according to new RBI rules you have to have a pan card. You can definitely use paypal for smaller transactions. Only transactions above $500 will be a problem.

      1. thnxs Manu….
