Faces Canada Profix Concealer Review

Hello everyone!

A concealer and a lip balm are an absolute must-have for me, I can do without everything else, but not without these. Which is your must-have product? A concealer is what makes me look alive, all thanks to my panda eyes 😛 My dark circles get worse during the winters due to cold and nasal allergies, in spite of getting enough sleep as well. So, this is the latest concealer I am enjoying.

My Experience with Faces Canada Profix Concealer:

I am a beginner in makeup and have started taking tremendous interest in it from the past one year, but a concealer is something I have experimented a lot with. So far, I have used 6 different types of concealers including cream and liquid, and learnt one thing that to get a medium to full coverage, cream concealer is a better option as liquids give slightly less coverage but are better to work with.  I was not aware that Faces had such a huge range of base products, so was not sure about this one as well, but the promising claims that the SA made, tricked me into buying this one.

Also, the price has been hiked from Rs. 399 to 449, as the website shows the old price. I have no clue why is it named as corrector on the backside instead of concealer, as the website also shows it as a concealer.  The packaging is very attractive.  This concealer comes in a small metal mirror finish round compact container, and is very eye catching.  There is a small lock at the base, which is working well so far and inside there is a small cute mirror attached, just in case to use while travelling.

It comes in 5 shades, and I have the shade number 0653 which was the darkest shade. The shade selection is not that great.  At the counter, I saw only 4 shades; the first two would probably be very light for most Indian skin tones and the last two shades are similar.  The only difference is in the undertone, one is pink toned and the other shade is yellow toned which is the one I am reviewing. For reference, I have medium skin tone.  This particular shade has strong yellow undertones and would work for most medium skin tones, it counteracts the dark bluish shadows really well and I can easily skip a corrector with it as it does not look ashy at all, and is a perfect match for me.

The texture is smooth but not very creamy, it is on the thicker side; the texture is slightly similar to MAC Studio Finish Concealer as I had tried it once at the store. But once you apply, it becomes quite creamy due to the warmth of the skin. It is very lightweight, and does not feel like you have applied something, but prepping eyes with a good moisturizing eye cream is must for better application, as I have oily eyelids but my under eye area is normal. It blends quite easily with fingers. I mainly use it for under eye concealing, but it will work great for covering acne and marks as well.

It is very pigmented and a little goes a long way, as the coverage itself is quite opaque. It has medium to full coverage, definitely more than medium but slightly less than full. Because of the high coverage, blending is the key, or else it can look cakey. I do not have any wrinkles, but it does not settle much in the under eye lines. I get almost full coverage without using any corrector with it. To get full opaque coverage, applying it in two thin layers works best as if you apply a lot of product at one go, it will end up looking very cakey.

I tried different ways of applying, but the one that works best for me is first applying it with a small concealer brush and then lightly patting it with fingers, so that it looks well blended, fingers work best to get a proper finish. Setting it is not necessary, it sets to a cream to powder finish on its own, but then as it is a cream product, it will crease.  To prevent that, I powder it with a fluffy brush, and to make it completely budge proof and stay all day long, setting it with a powder puff helps a lot.  It is water resistant, and does not come off that easily with it and also one of the most long staying concealer I have used. Without setting it with powder, it stays for 4 -5 hours after which it starts creasing. When set it stays in place for 10-11 hours, there is slight fading after 8 hours, but still the dark circles are not visible.

Pros of Faces Canada Profix Concealer:

  • Very stylish packaging, comes with a small mirror inside.
  • Feels very lightweight.
  • Extremely pigmented, gives medium to full coverage in a single layer.
  • Very long staying and water resistant.
  • A little goes a long way, it will last for a really long time.
  • Does not settle much into lines.
  • Reasonably priced.

Cons of Faces Canada Profix Concealer:

  • Shade selection is not that great.
  • Has to be blended really well or else it can look very cakey.
  • Not very hygienic packaging.
  • Prepping under eyes is must as it is not very creamy and moisturizing.
  • If you have a lot of wrinkles under the eyes, it can settle into lines.

Do I Recommend Faces Canada Profix Concealer?

If you find a good shade match, then this is a great concealer which has some good solid coverage, but one has to be very careful with application.
