Faces Canada Single Eyeshadow FES250 Review
By Shridevi Bhat
I am a novice when it comes to makeup, especially eye makeup, which for me means just eyeliner/kajal. Off late, I have started using mascara. After looking at so many eyeshadow tutorials and reviews on IMBB, I was tempted to start using eye shadows. However, I was skeptical to do so for fear of making mistakes and ending up looking like a clown. So, I was on the hunt for a very forgiving shade of eyeshadow which would not highlight my inability at applying it, at the same time give me the satisfaction of using one 😀 After a long hunt, I finally found Faces Mono Eyeshadow in FES250.
Price:
Rs. 550 for 2 gm (I got it for Rs. 275 in sale this August).
Product Description:
Faces Eyeshadow Fard A Paupieres and Sombra Para Ojos FES250 is what is written on the back of the case. So, hoping to know if it says something about the shade; off I went to Google Translate to find out what both the terms meant ; its eyeshadow in French and Spanish respectively (I neither know French nor Spanish, so had to use Google Translate 🙂 ). I was a tad disappointed to know that we don’t have a shade name here, only shade number FES250. Okay, let’s proceed to the review.
My Experience with Faces Canada Single Eyeshadow FES250:
This matte eyeshadow comes in a small black case with a transparent lid, which is good because you can know the shade without having to open the case. It comes neither with a mirror nor an applicator. If you see, there is some fallout on the rim of the case. However, there is no fallout when you apply.
Coming to the shade, it is the nudest matte shade you may ever find in this brand at least. If I keep my Lakme compact (Shade Natural Pearl) and this eyeshadow and compare, there’s barely any difference in the shade! Safe enough for me 😉
If you look very closely, you can see very little and very fine shimmer particles.
But when you apply it, these particles are not really visible from a distance. Only people (standing) close to you can see the shimmer 😉 The pigmentation is bad. I swiped it 4-5 times to get this:
On fair to medium skin tones, this shade would barely show up. In fact, the SA was dissuading me from buying this particular shade, but I was adamant and bought it anyway 😛
I don’t use any specific primer or base on my lids, just a BB cream, compact and apply this eyeshadow on that. It does make my eyes look a wee bit brighter than when I am not using any eyeshadow at all. To be frank, this barely qualifies as an eyeshadow to be used by itself, maybe it can be used as a base for other eyeshadows. You girls would know better how this shade can be put to good use.
To sum it up:
Pros of Faces Canada Single Eyeshadow FES250:
- A very n*de shade (not sure if this is a pro or a con).
- Not chalky.
- Can be used a base shade for other eyeshadows.
- Good packaging.
Cons of Faces Canada Single Eyeshadow FES250:
- Bad pigmentation.
- Expensive, unless you get a real good discount, Rs. 550 according to me is too much for this particular shade.
- Will not suit duskier skin tones.
IMBB Rating:
3/5
Do I Recommend Faces Canada Single Eyeshadow FES250?
I would not really pick it up again, not a must-have shade, but if you want to just add a little brightness to your eyes without looking made-up or you are looking for a base shade like this one, go for it.
