Faces Canada Velvet Foundation in Honey Beige

Faces Canada Velvet Foundation in Honey Beige

Hey All,

I am going to review my first ever foundation. I never used to use foundation as I felt it’s only for older women 😛 but then, I do try it on special occasions.  It’s still not something I use regularly as *touchwood* I’m blessed with very clear skin ever since my childhood and it’s continued through my teens till now. I bought this foundation more on impulse and out of a sense of hurriedness, my mom had forgotten her Lakme foundation at home when we had come down South for my cousin’s wedding, so I went ahead, swatched and bought the shade 01 Honey Beige.

The packaging is minimalistic, the tube is very slim and tear-drop shaped, with a twist-to-open cap.

However, I find it strange that there is no ingredients list at all. The back of the tube just has the directions for use and something about feedback to them.

Anyhow, moving on to the foundation shade. The shade goes well with my complexion as you can see. The foundation has a soft texture, but somehow feels oily later in the day. Here’s how it looks after application –

Also, the other day when I wore it to work, I went to the loo after a while to touch up and I was horrified to see it had flaked pretty badly on my nose and chin.  There were tiny pieces of it all over and it didn’t go when I tried to get rid of it either. Needless to say, I wasn’t pleased and well, I haven’t used it for a while now due to this reason. It was expensive too, considering I’m not very regular with using foundations. So, it’s just been lying there in a corner of my drawer unused :/

Pros of Faces Canada Velvet Foundation in Honey Beige:

  • Innovative shape of the bottle, if you’re into that.
  • Feels soft and light.

Cons of Faces Canada Velvet Foundation in Honey Beige:

  • Extremely flaky, peels off and leaves flakes on the skin which isn’t attractive at all.
  • Expensive for some perhaps.
  • Gets oily.
  • Not a good choice for those who want something that lasts them through 8-9 hours a day.

Would I Repurchase Faces Canada Velvet Foundation in Honey Beige?

Hell no! My BB cream works better than this does and if I want to buy proper foundation, I’d much rather invest in Chanel or MAC for a better finish.

  1. I didn’t like the eyeliners and brushes in the Faces smokey eye palette either 🙁 they were useless…but the primer and the eyeshadows are nice. In the pic I’m wearing faces nailpolish only 😛
Thanks for the suggestion, Vish! next on my list 😀

  2. Thank you so much Nandini.. . you saved us. i saw this on some online shopping site and was very impressed by the name and packaging.. 🙁 thanks again… now wont even think of trying it… :)) :)) 🙂

  3. oh ewwww!!! try a revlon or maxfactor ones nandini. infact maybelline makes pretty awesome ones. do give those a shot. bad foundation. :spank:

    1. Thanks Rati! I use Maybelline’s BB cream aaj kal, it’s light and no-fuss but sometimes I wonder if I should use a primer before the BB cream…have never tried Max Factor, where is it available? Revlon Photo studeio something is the one that’s supposed to be good right? Or skinlights…
