Today, I am going to share my thoughts on the Faces lip liner. I always bought budget-friendly lip liners for the thought of it going to be topped up with a lipstick later. I wanted to widen my collection of lip liners from browns and pinks, so went ahead and bought a bright red colour.

My take on Faces Lip Liner in True Red

Packaging

The Faces lip pencil comes in a matte black colored body with the product details engraved on it. The cap fits the pencil well and so the packaging is travel friendly. The colour of the lip pencil can be identified easily with the help of colour demarcation at the end of the pencil.

Colour

The shade ‘True red’ is a bright red color. The colour is vivid and intense. Though the shade is bright but it is definitely not neonish and difficult to carry. I tried a lot of shades at the counter as I have pigmented lips most of them don’t show up well. This color looks really bold and perfect for red lipsticks.
Texture and Pigmentation

The texture of the lip pencil is smooth and it is creamy enough to glide well on the lips. It is quite soft but it doesn’t tend to crumble during application or sharpening of the pencil. Some product does get wasted while sharpening and I do prefer retractable pencils over this. The shade is intensely pigmented and I did not find the need to layer the pencil too much. The lip pencil gives a nice completely matte finish.
The lip pencil being matte will accentuate dry areas of the lips. But, it doesn’t give a flaky finish like other affordable lip pencils. It is quite preferable to moisturize lips before applying these. I would use it all over the lips as a base for my lipsticks, so the problem of dryness accentuating my lips will not arise. I loved the shade it can be topped with a sheer gloss too. The staying power of the lip pencil would be around 4 to 4 and half hours on my lips. After that, the shade leaves a strong tint on the lips.

Yes, definitely will go back for more shades. I highly recommend it to everyone. Overall, it is a very good lip pencil available at a budget friendly price. There were number of shades available at the store. Do try at least one of them!
