This is my first review on IMBB and my first purchase from Faces. I needed some nude lipstick shades for my trip to Port Blair which weren’t pink based. I thought of saving a few bucks by ordering it online but didn’t receive the sharpener with it. So much for saving! Faces launched 11 new shades in their Ultime Pro Matte collection and I bought the shade Cashmere.
Price: INR 799 (But I got it for INR 599 after discount)
My Experience with Faces Ultime Pro Matte Lip Crayon – Cashmere:
When I first opened the package, the crayon seemed to be quite thin, unlike the Ultime Pro Crème range which was quite thick. It looked more like a lip pencil than a lip crayon. I think it is because these need to be sharpened and the crème ones are in retractable form.
Packaging: These come in a simple crayon form; nothing impressive there. The best part is that these are color-coded. It makes it easier if you own many shades of this range. They need to be sharpened with the Faces sharpener only because when I used Lakme sharpener, it ruined the tip. I usually do not like crayons that need to be sharpened, not only it leads to wastage, but also because they need to be closed very carefully so as to not damage the tip. For a clumsy person like me, I would surely ruin it.
Texture: The texture of this is amazing; super matte, yet not that drying. It just glides over your lips without pulling or tugging. Due to its creamy nature, it needs to be sharpened quite often, like I had to sharpen it after 3-4 uses. It feels light on lips. However, it is not transfer-proof. Also, one needs to exfoliate lips thoroughly before applying this as it highlights chapped lips.
Shade: The shade Cashmere is an orangey/muddy brown nude shade. It looks a lot better and wearable in natural sunlight. It washes out my medium skin tone but after foundation or a BB cream, it looks like a gorgeous light brown shade. A kind of a risky shade if you ask me, as it looks quite dark in the bullet. But, a little mixing with different lipsticks and you can pull it off like a diva. I have shown swatches both in artificial light and sunlight.
Longevity: This is the best part. It stays on for more than seven hours. Also, I went in the water with this one and was there for 2 hours. When I came out it was still on. None of my previous light lipsticks stayed on in water. This can also survive meals. Even after eating, a nice stain is present. This isn’t like other mattes which start to fade from the center of the lips.
I have shown the lip swatches under both natural and artificial light to give you a clear idea of how the shade looks.
Pros of Faces Ultime Pro Matte Lip Crayon – Cashmere:
• Longevity; stays on like forever
• Color-coded packaging
• Creamy texture
• Isn’t that drying compared to other matte lipsticks
• Variety; many colors to choose from
• Comes with its own sharpener even though I didn’t get one (Why god? Why? Why me?)
Cons of Faces Ultime Pro Matte Lip Crayon – Cashmere:
• Highlights chapped lips if not exfoliated before application
• The shade cashmere may not suit medium to dark skin tones
• Needs to be closed carefully as the tip may get damaged
• A little expensive, though staying power totally makes it worth the money
