Faces Ultra Moist Lipstick in Mauve Strung Review

Today, I am here with the review of another shade from the Faces “Ultra Moist” range.  Faces lipsticks are getting pricey day by day, but I wanted to pick at least one more shade from the range that I could review.

INR 549. Rs 100 has been increased for some newly-launched shades.

Packaging:

The bullet comes in a shiny black case. The case is safely packed with a black color outer carton, you will find a color coded sticker with the shade name and number on the outer pack also, and I found the sticker really true to the lipstick color. The packaging looks good, but “Faces” really needs to bring a change to the monotonous packaging of its lipsticks.

My Take on Faces Ultra Moist Lipstick in Mauve Strung:

Shade, Texture and Pigmentation:  “Mauve Strung” is a mix of pink with some brown tones to it, and also with a bit of mauve touch.  In one word, it’s a deep rusty pink shade with concentrated golden shimmer, which gives a golden sheen to the lipstick.  One swipe of the lipstick will give a mild pink mauve color, which will be enough; you don’t want to make the color appear too dark on you. Well, the shade is nice and pretty and every skin tone can carry this kind of deep shade because it leans towards pink. I think this color is perfect to wear for evening parties with neutral eye makeup.  It will be better suitable for women who are in their mid or late twenties.

This lip color has a very smooth and creamy texture and it’s not like those melting creamy lipsticks.  It glides like butter on the lips.  “Ultra Moist” lipsticks are really moisturizing, they provide enough hydration to lips and keep lips soft and supple throughout, and it’s an apt lipstick for dry lips.  This lipstick gives creamy matte finish on the lips.

The pigmentation is really good for this shade, but the other shades in this range would need two swipes for perfect opacity, but this color gives the thickness and opacity in a single swipe, and I would suggest not to layer this color.  As it’s a dark shade with mauve and brown hint to it, in 2-3 swipes, the mild pink color would go away and the color will become a brownish mauvish color, which will not look too good on some of us.

Staying Power:  The lipstick stays for 2 – 2.5 hours; without any meals in between. Whereas I love the creamy texture of the lipstick, I hate the staying power.  It doesn’t stay on me for more than 2 hours, doesn’t even leave a stain.  The lipstick will transfer, but doesn’t bleed.

Pros of Faces Ultra Moist Lipstick in Mauve Strung:

• A very nice deep rusty pink color, I find it a unique color.
• Smooth and creamy texture.
• Glides effortlessly on the lips.
• Pigmentation is awesome; one swipe imparts enough color on the lips.
• Very hydrating, good for dry lips.
• Creamy matte lipstick lovers would love this creamy lipstick.

Cons of Faces Ultra Moist Lipstick in Mauve Strung:

• It doesn’t stay for more than 2 hours on me, but that’s because of the creamy texture.
• Packaging is not exciting enough.
• This lip color has golden shimmers. They these do not show up on the lips, I wish they weren’t just there.
• Pricey.

Would I Recommend Faces Ultra Moist Lipstick in Mauve Strung?

Some of the shades in this range are really good, including this one also, I find the color really unique. If you don’t mind the staying power and the shimmers in it, you can really go for this one.
