Facial Hair Removal for a 16 Year Old: Ask IMBB

Mansi asks:

Hey…

I am from Jalandhar, I am 16 years old and have hair on my face and upperlip. I went to a beauty parlour near my house for upper lips…the girl there suggested that I should not get it removed as the hair growth will be harder and will have to be removed again and again undergoing a lot pain. Even if I go for katori wax, it will be the same. She told me that I should go for bleach but I think it is not a good option as it would be even more weird. Please suggest something for my problem without any side effects.

  1. Sadly, these are the only options available to get rid of facial hair – katori wax, threading, using Epistick, facial wax strips, or bleaching. The hair will grow back eventually and you would have to maintain :((

Some home remedies with pure turmeric and besan is known to reduce facial hair in the long run. If you want, you can try laser or electrolysis to get rid of hair.

  2. Jomol is their any side effects in laser or electrolysis?? or is it costly? I would like to do it coz I too have same problems and I am scared of doing katori wax & threading πŸ™

  3. Mansi, if it all you have to do this,
I have been threading my upperlip or may be wax for years( now i wax and thread both at home), maybe when i was 19 or so and now I am 28!the hair have only gone lesser and thinner! so i dont agree with hair getting harder
yes, for first time, i would say threading will be painful , so choose a wax, may be choco wax, not katori too, eventually u can learn to thread it at home when you see a little hair, so that you dont have to wait for full growth and go thru the pain!
wax initially and then thread may be twice a month!

do not bleach at this age! yes, it would look very weird!
leave ur facial hair at the moment, just focus on upperlip, may be too early for a bleach

    1. Second that !! There is no permanent solution unless you choose to get laser or electrolysis done..

You shud get threading/waxing done..hair grows back, but thats ok, you can get it done once in a month or 2 depending on your growth.. You will get accustomed to the pain too πŸ˜›

      1. For upper lips you can get threading/waxing done. As for facial hair, IMO, you are too young to do anything about it. Maybe after you are 18-20, bleaching would be an option I would like to suggest πŸ™‚

  4. I don’t have facial hair but I do get my eyebrows threaded and I’ve noticed they’re darker than before and the hair grows all unruly. I noticed it first when I had to grow back eyebrows fully since I wanted to change the shape. Once you start threading/waxing, you have to maintain it. And bleaching is a good idea only if you have very sparse hair.

  5. Dont go for bleach if there are too many hair on your face… m sure you will not like it..waxing it or threading it are the two best options till date… gradually the hair growth will reduce after time.. it wont get harder or something.. so dont worry be happy πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  6. yes neha…u r right. i am 29 and i have been threading my upper lip area and chin since i was around 17. earlier i used to go to salon for this but eventually i learnt to do it myself and have been doing it. the hair has become thinner and lesser over time.
if it pains too much in the beginning, u can apply a little teething gel ( for babies), it will numb the area for sum time. or u can ask ur dermatologist to prescribe u xylocaine gel for numbing. it is a prescription ointment and he will tell u how much to use.
