In this fast-paced world, many of us don’t have the time or the budget to go for elaborate facials in fancy salons. While the salon experience is definitely worth the splurge most of the times, but if you want to take care of your skin, you do not have to break the bank, there are other options available too. There are easy facials you can do at home that would improve skin’s texture with regular use and brighten complexion too. In this post, I will share easy 5-step facial routine to rejuvenate and revitalize your skin and also would add glow to your face.
1. Cleansing your skin:
Depending on your skin type, choose a cleanser that doesn’t dry out the skin and neither would add too much oiliness. For oily skin, a foaming or gel-based face wash is a good option to clean skin thoroughly for the next step. Dry-skinned ladies can rely on mild creamy cleansers or cleansing milk to get clean skin. Normal-combination skinned ladies can opt for foaming washes.
Recommendations: Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Charcoal Face Wash, Himalaya Neem Face Wash (Oily, acne prone skin). Jovees Activated Charcoal Detoxifying Face Wash (normal-oily skin), Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser, O3+ Hydrating and Soothing Face Wash (Dry skin)
A 1-minute exfoliation can help in clearing tan, removing dead cells and revealing fresher skin. A good scrub can improve your skin texture and reveal new layers hidden under cell debris.
Recommendations: O3+ Volcano Scrub (Oily-combination skin), Jovees Bridal Brightening Ultra Radiance Face Scrub (Dry skin), Lotus Apriscrub, Himalaya Orange Tan Removal Face Scrub.
3. Steaming and blackhead removal:
These two steps can make a huge difference in the outcome of your facials. While these are done in a professional salon, at home, we often forget to steam our faces and remove blackheads, marring the smoothness and clarity of skin that we can get as a result of doing so. Steam your face with caution, for around 10 minutes and use a stainless steel blackhead remover on your nose and chin area. This blackhead and whitehead remover tool is easy to buy from beauty stores and it will pop up nasty blackheads and whiteheads after the steam session. You can also invest in a hand-held facial steamer.
4. Massage with gel or cream:
Depending on your skin type, you can give yourself a 15-minute stimulating massage to your face and neck region. Take some massage gel (if you have oily skin) or a massage cream (for dry skin), rub it gently to warm it up. Now massage in upward and outward strokes on your face and downward strokes on your neck. Apply more pressure on the sides of your temples and jawline to improve blood circulation and reduce stress. You can also use a jade roller to massage your skin. Wipe off with a wet towel.
Recommendations: Khadi Rose and Aloe Vera Herbal Facial Massage Gel (Oily skin), VLCC Skin Defense Pista Massage Cream (Dry skin), O3+ Whitening Massage Cream – C (for all skin types).
5. Apply a face pack:
The last step is to apply a face pack. You can choose a face pack targeting your specific skin needs. For excessively oily skin, use a clay mask; for ageing concerns, use a firming mask and for dull skin, try a brightening mask. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Apply a toner or rub ice to close your pores and follow with a moisturizer.
Recommendations: Biotique Milk Protein Face Pack (Dry skin), Skin Inc. Get Glowin’ Brightening Mask (all skin types), Specifix Professional Instant Radiance Mask (all skin types), and Innisfree Capsule Masks – Rice Sleeping Mask, Green Tea Mask, Jeju Volcano, Honey, Bija and Green Tea.
If you do not want the hassle of using different products, you can try the facial kits from reputed brands from VLCC, Nature’s Essence, Lotus Herbals and Khadi, which have all the products together in one kit.
