6 Fashion Movies Every Fashionista Must Watch

The September issue and other must see fashion inspiring movies

I received my September issue of Vogue and like every year, it was a monstrous size with lots of visual treats. It got me thinking of the interesting documentary “The September Issue” which documents the making of Vogue’s annual September issue which is their fattest issue

every year. Thus, inspired by the September issue, here is my list of must see fashion inspiring-visual treat movies, documentaries and sitcoms.

1. The September Issue(2009)

The September Issue is a documentary chronicling Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour’s preparations for the 2007 fall-fashion issue. It is really interesting to see how much hard work, dedication and perfection goes into publishing a single issue of a fashion magazine. The documentary also looks at the surprising, almost down to earth side of Anna Wintour( who is often rumored to be cold and is actually the inspiration behind Meryl Streep’s character in The devil wears Prada). This documentary will make you so want to work for a fashion house.

2. Priceless/Hors de prix(2008)

Princess
Through a set of wacky circumstances, a young gold digger mistakenly woos a mild-mannered bartender thinking he’s a wealthy suitor. This French movie stars the lovely Audrey Tautou as the gold digger who targets wealthy old men and uses their money to buy expensive clothes and jewellery. Must see for the exquisite luxury dresses, jewellery, watches and the lovely chic styling of Audrey Tautou. The story is also sweet and entertaining.

3. How to marry a millionaire(1953)

How to marry a millionaire(1953)
Three New York models set-up in an exclusive apartment with a plan: tired of cheap men and a lack of money they intend to use all their talents to trap and marry three millionaires.

This is a good, fun movie with lots of eye candy of the 50’s style and fashion. I love Marilyn Monroe’s character the most in the movie as she plays a beautiful model who cant see anything without her eye glasses( no lens in those days) but unfortunately can’t keep them on in order to obstruct her beauty. All in all, a fun movie.

4. Coco Before Chanel/Coco avant Chanel(2009)

Coco Chanel Before Chanel
The story of Coco Chanel’s rise from obscure beginnings to the heights of the fashion world. This movie starring Audrey Tautou, takes a look at Coco Chanel-her personal life and her rise to becoming the fashion legend. A real visual treat and inspiration from the chic French sets in the movie.

5. I do, I do(2012)
i do, i do
For those really sick of the usual Indian family dramas and wanting something much more intelligent than the Ekta Kapoor type serials but something light and a bit entertaining
than the serious American drama sitcoms, I give you the wonderful world of Korean drama or K-drama as they are popularly known. I am so sure most Indians will love most of the K-dramas.

One of my favorite is I do, I do which is about a woman who is the top shoe designer at a shoe company. The woman is called “Gold Miss,” because she is in her mid-30’s, single, and financially successful. She mistakenly spends a drunken night with a counterfeit shoes peddler and becomes pregnant.

This drama has lots of lovely shoes, shoes and shoes. Also Koreans, in my opinion, are one of the best dressed people and this series does not disappoint. Kim Sun-A looks lovely and is so chic and stylist in the entire series. Also don’t forget to lust her lovely custom room for all her shoes in her apartment.

6. Other movies/dramas/tele series worth mentioning but I am sure most of IMBB readers must have seen are- The devil wears Prada, Ugly Betty, Project Runway, Sex and the city, Confession of a shopaholic, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Aisha.

IMBB readers- Please add more to the list and suggest some Hindi movies too!
