Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick Mocha Review

Hello everyone,

Recently, I did a mini Fenty Beauty haul which also included the stunning “Trophy Wife” highlight which I have reviewed here on IMBB. Today, I will be reviewing one of the Matchstix from the Match stix medium trio (which comes with the shades – Bamboo, Mocha and Trippin) that I had picked up from Sephora. The shade that I will be reviewing today is from the matte range and it’s called “Mocha.”

Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick Mocha

My Experience with Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick Mocha:

First of all, the packaging of Fenty Beauty products is simply outstanding especially with the octagon-shaped match stix, they have all-around magnetized sides and they stick to each other in any way you like hence if you have a bunch of them you can make a honeycomb out of them. It is very convenient to travel with and take with you on the go. The retractable stick product does not slip in all the way the tube so you have to be careful putting the cap back on.

Shade and Pigmentation: “Mocha” is described as a deep color with cool undertone. This is great contour shade, on my light- medium skin tone while it does pull a little warm tone instead of cool (which a contour shade should ideally be) as it has distinct red undertones but I don’t mind that as I can both contour and bronze my face with this. The pigmentation is amazing, it does sheer out a bit, but does not leave harsh lines, it blends beautifully with both a brush or a Beauty Blender though I prefer the former when it comes to this and look very natural on the skin.

Texture and Application: This matchstix was not as drying as compared to the concealer shade “Bamboo” that I have. While it also depends on the area you use it on, a contour shade like this is only used on the hollows of you cheeks, nose and jaw and doesn’t necessarily have to follow the same requirements as one might look for in a concealer for the under eyes.

Feel on skin:  This is a true cream-to-powder formula. It sets quickly to a completely non-tacky, non-greasy, powder finish.

Staying Power:  This lasted all day on me with minimal to no fading.

Overall, whileI hated this matte match stix formula for my under eye, I love it as a contour. The shade range is so inclusive and spot on, no doubt about it. I would recommend this formula for contouring even for dry skin like mine.

Pros of Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick Mocha:

  • Beautiful packaging.
  • Travel friendly.
  • Extensive shade range.
  • Great pigmentation.
  • Blends effortlessly.
  • Cream to powder finish.
  • Long wearing.

Cons of Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick Mocha:

  • If you are dry or have dry patches, make sure you skin is prepped or this product will cling to and exaggerate those.
