Fenty Beauty has surprised us again with a hot Christmas launch – their much-awaited Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipsticks. This is a new range of lightweight matte lipsticks, comprising of a spell-bounding array of 14 shades, which were launched on December 26th, 2017. I resisted so much but eventually gave in seeing all the online swatches of Rihanna. Because of the holiday shutdown my online purchase took some days to reach me and finally I got this beauty in hand as a new year gift. So today, I am going to share my views about the shade Ma’damn (all the shade names in this line are cheeky, so excuse me).

My Experience with Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick Ma’damn:
Fenty’s first lip product was the Universal Gloss Bomb and then they followed up with a limited edition metallic lipsticks called the Galaxy Collection Starlit Hyper Glitz Lipsticks. Last month, they set the world on fire with their perfect red liquid lipstick called Stunna Lip Paint. And now, they have ventured into regular matte lippies with this Mattemoiselle range.
Packaging:
The Mattemoiselle Matte Lipstick’s packaging is stunning – just like any other Fenty packaging. The lipstick tube as a holographic, rose gold, honeycomb designed sleek body, which is amazing and luxe. When the cap is removed the tube inside is white in colour, which is kind of cute. They also have an outer black and white cardboard box with the details.
The brand’s initial ‘FB’ has been monogrammed on the top of the lipstick bullet itself. The ultra slim bullet is very precise and facilitates good application. Though the packaging looks luxurious I feel the bullet itself is lightweight and feels like cheap plastic; a metal packaging would have been better.
Shade:
As quoted by Rihanna, “Lipstick is all about having fun and expressing your mood at any given moment”, this collection has some bold, unusual and wild colours which are fun and out-of-the-box. To be frank, I have not seen a versatile collection like this earlier.
There are around 14 shades comprising of red, candy pink, browns, a forest green, pastel lilac, blues, orange and also some nudes. As said earlier, the shade names are really quirky; for example, the green shade is called Midnight Wasabi, the neutral pink shade is called Spanked, and a dark burgundy shade is PMS. OMG! Rihanna has rocked with the names as well.
The shade which I picked up is called Ma’damn and is the only red in the collection. It has been described as “a royal red” by Fenty and it is indeed royal. This is a beautiful blue-based red shade – similar to the Stunna Lip Paint – and I am impressed with this one.
This is a universally flattering shade and perks up the complexion in a jiffy. As I told you guys earlier, this is one of a kind collection comprising of uncommon colours, and I am sure we need special guts to pull some of these shades off.
Formula:
The formula of this lipstick has been described as a plush matte formula and these are indeed like velvet mattes. Ma’damn has an amazing pigmentation; this red gives bang-on colour with just one swipe. The lipstick applies well and feels extremely smooth on the lips without feeling patchy or streaky.
The formula is very creamy and moisturising and feels lightweight on the lips. The lipstick has a unique moisturising matte texture which feels amazing on the lips. It does not accentuate the dry patches or fine lines, which is quite unlike other matte lipsticks.
Staying Power:
It has an impressive staying power as well. It lasts throughout the day and does fade a bit after an oily meal but we can easily reapply it. The fading of the lipstick is also uniform and neat. Since it has a velvet matte formula it does transfer but not crazily.
Value for Money:
This lipstick provides only 1.7 g of product for $18 whereas a regular MAC lipstick offers about 3.6 g of product for $17. This comparison clearly explains that we nearly get half the amount of a regular lipstick in the Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick range, which is a dealbreaker.
The ultra slim size may have been the reason for this and also the luxe packaging may have succumbed some cost. Still, this product doesn’t do justice in terms of quantity and price although the quality is phenomenal. Having said that, the hype around the brand also contributes to this and outshines this flaw altogether. Even I got into this whole Fenty hype and purchased this lipstick.
Overall:
This is a good lipstick. The formula, the shade and the staying power – everything is just ‘wow’. If you don’t care much about the quantity and want to try this star-studded brand then this product is worth a try.

Though this is a stunning shade, I want to try other shades from this line, so I won’t repurchase this one. You can give this lipstick a try if you are looking for a gorgeous red shade, and also if you want to try this brand.
