Rihanna’s makeup line – “Fenty Beauty” has created a lot of buzz in the world of makeup recently. There is a wide range of makeup products for creating perfect base makeup. I have picked two products from this brand – Pro Filtr Primer and the matte foundation. Today’s review is going to be on Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer. Read on to know more about this amazing product.
A shine-stopping, pore-diffusing primer that smooths the way for better foundation application and longer wear. Nothing is s*xier than touch-worthy skin, and Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer is the first step to getting there. Paired with Pro Filt’r Foundation, this oil-free primer smooths away the look of pores, visibly evens skin tone and texture, and instantly absorbs shine without feeling dry or chalky. That means smoother foundation application and longer makeup wear. The cushiony texture mattifies skin with the lightest-possible feel, and the universal invisipink formula creates a filter-like blurring effect, melting instantly into all skin tones without a trace. Pro Filt’r works all day to help makeup last longer, feeling lightweight and comfortable.
Fenty Beauty is 100% cruelty free.

My Experience with Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer:
The packaging of the product is so sophisticated and classy. The primer comes in a nice matte finish, squarely-shaped strong glass bottle with a pump dispenser. It’s easy to take out the product through the dispenser. The cap shuts very securely making this bottle fit for travel purposes. The brand’s tagline is embossed on the bottle in pretty graphite colored fonts. The primer bottle comes housed in a strong cardboard box with all the necessary product-related information printed on it. The see-through bottle would help you to keep an eye on the amount of the product left inside while the pump dispenser is great for easily dispensing the product and hygiene purposes. Overall, the packaging is just amazing.
This primer is available in only one shade – “Soft Matte.” The primer is light in color with some pinkish hue. It does not leave any cast behind. This makes it suitable for all skin tones. Blended properly, it totally disappears into the skin. It does not do any color correction. This primer has a very mild and non-bothering vanilla fragrance, and I like it.
The texture of the primer is very lightweight and feels ultra comfortable on the skin. It has a gel-like consistency. It does not feel heavy or sticky at all and also does not leave any residue behind. Just a little amount goes a long way. I need just one-and-half pump to prep my face properly. The primer is super easy to blend even with fingers. It spreads on the skin effortlessly and blends really well within a few seconds. It melts with the warmth of my skin and sinks into it without much effort. It gives a soft matte finish to the skin. It does not cast any oily sheen behind, but after a few hours of application, I do observe a light sheen on my skin, which I believe is pretty normal for my combination-oily skin.
This primer is amazing for all skin types expect for oily one because it can make oily skin slightly greasy after a few hours of application as I feel this is not a heavy primer that could suck all the oil from the skin and mattify it to a great extent, but this product works really amazingly for my combination skin. I have used a couple of primers from Becca as their primers are so hyped up, my favorite being Becca Backlight Priming Filter as it gives a nice, dewy finish, but I love this Fenty Beauty one much better because of its super light and moisturizing formula. The Becca primer feels like it’s just sitting on top of the skin.
The brand claims that this primer imparts a “pore-diffusing finish,” but unfortunately, it did not turn out to be great on my skin in this context. I have large skin pores and I did not notice a huge difference in the size of my pores. Though, it smoothens skin slightly and makes my pores look slightly small, but honestly, it does not really work on large skin pores.
This is a moisturizer + primer product. Initially, it feels like a lightweight moisturizer and later sets to a soft, matte, powdery kind of a finish. It helps to prep the skin well. It gives perfect amount of moisturization to the skin leaving a good base for my foundation. I believe foundation application is much better with this primer underneath. It takes away all the dryness and flakiness of the skin and helps it look healthy and nourished. It adds dimension to the makeup and prevent the base makeup from looking flat. The feel of this primer is incredible on the skin. The primer definitely extended the wear time of my makeup as it claims. It makes my makeup last really long.
Overall, if you are lucky to not have large pores on your skin, this is surely worth trying. I am sure you would love it, but unfortunately, it did not turn out to be that amazing for me because my major concern and expectation from a primer is to fill up pores, and this primer does not live up to that.
