Forest Essentials Bitter Orange and Cinnamon Hair Cleanser Review

Forest Essentials Bitter Orange and Cinnamon Hair Cleanser Review

I have tried three hair cleansers from Forest Essentials till now – Forest Essentials Madurai Jasmine, Bitter Orange and Cinnamon, and Bengal Tuberose.  At the outset, let me tell you all that all Forest Essentials products are paraben free, against animal testing, and make use of naturally extracted ingredients.  Most importantly, they smell amazing! If you are considering Forest Essentials stuff, get it for the fragrance.  I am reviewing today the Bitter Orange and Cinnamon shampoo.  Read on to more about it:

My Take on Forest Essentials Bitter Orange and Cinnamon Hair Cleanser:

I had picked up the Madurai Jasmine and Bengal Tuberose variants online and got them at a pretty good discount and they have wonderful fragrances which linger in the hair for around two days.  Those two reviews are coming up next week, so I am not going to divulge much about them here.  Moving on to this hair cleanser, it contains a whole lot of natural ingredients that are great for healthy hair.  Coming to the packaging, you are bound to get disappointed because though 200 ml is mentioned, this stuff gets used up pretty soon.  The shampoo smells strongly and pleasantly of bitter orange and comes in a bottle which is very travel friendly. Disappointingly, I cannot detect any cinnamon scent 🙁

You would think being a natural and chemical-free product, it might not lather well, but surprisingly this one does. It does lather averagely, not much, but not comparatively lesser than the other shampoos available in the market. However, every time, I am tricked into using more of it from the shampoo bottle.  After roughly three uses, the level in the bottle has gone well beyond half 🙁

Coming to whether it works and how it works, frankly speaking, I am not much impressed with the effects. “Natural ingredients, paraben-free tag, and great fragrance,” everything is cool, but being curly haired, I need bounce and volume in my hair.  This shampoo does not give any bounce or life to hair as L’Oreal’s Total Repair 5 Shampoo. Those with normal/straight hair will not miss much I think, it’s curly hair that will miss the bounce. My sister with straight/normal hair tried this shampoo and found it pretty okay.

This shampoo does not make the hair frizzy, it cleanses thoroughly like an average shampoo, but doesn’t do more than that.  I was expecting a lot out of it, but I understand, because you cannot get everything in a single shampoo.  If you are getting natural ingredients and healthy hair in the long run, you have to let go of the bounce.  So, I am going to alternate it with my L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Shampoo, so that my hair stays bouncy.

Also, there’s not much of shine or glossiness that you can see; if I can say, it pretty much dries out hair and you would have to add hair serum compulsorily to bring back some shine.  This is contrary to the claim that it’s for normal to dry hair.  This shampoo did not have any effect on hair fall, it neither stops hair fall nor aggravates any such problem.  On thoroughly oiled hair, it’s able to rinse off the oil completely, but a little more than the usual amount of shampoo is required.  Since its summers already, by the third day, I feel the need to wash my hair again. So, I am going to finish this up soon; however, I am not thinking of a repurchase because I like bounce and volume in my hair.  Though this shampoo tames frizzy hair, I am still not impressed, I want more from a shampoo 😛

  1. their night cream is my HG for winters and I have used their ubtans as well, have never explored any hair care products though 😀

  2. I don’t have a single FE product, in fact, don’t know where to get them. After reading this review, I will not be buying this shampoo. Nice pics, Jomol. 🙂
