My Experience:

After using 4 bottles of Forest Essentials Light Day Lotion Rose and Marigold, I thought I’d try something different from the brand. Plus the moisturizer wasn’t proving to be very hydrating for my dry skin during this dry wintery season. So I went to the store and asked the SA to give me something moisturizing and hydrating for my dry skin. She told me both about the day lotion and this gel. She said gel would be super hydrating for my skin so I picked this up.

I am sooo disappointed.

This is a light weight gel, which smells heavenly of fresh rose water. It feels cooling on skin and gets absorbed within seconds. But honestly, it does nothing to my dry skin except making it feel stretchy and taut. When I apply it, it feels amazing – almost like applying cooling water. But as soon as the wet feel of the gel disappears, my skin starts feeling stretched and uncomfortable. And it definitely does not moisturize my skin. I end up having dry patches on my  chin and cheeks after an hour or so. I went back to another store and now the SA has asked me to use it as a base of my moisturizer. 😐 It may work fine as a makeup base but I like to have a comfortable emollient feel to my skin as opposed to a stretched out feel.

It is just sitting pretty on my vanity table and doing nothing.

I am guessing that this would work just fine for those with oily skin. But those with normal to dry skin, I suggest that you totally skip this product.

Giving it only 1/5 for the fabulous packaging and the gorgeous smell. I guess they should train their SAs better.

    1. thanks pooja. :))

yeah shikha but the SA should have not been bothered to sell me this when I was asking her for something more moisturizing than their day lotion.

      1. the gel looks so awesome..rati di u can try their sesame oil which is multipurpose.its totally non greasy but at the same time moisturizing also.but pls check whthr they hv discontinued ths product or not bcoz they r discontinuing a lot of products

  1. It looks so pretty and tempting, but sad that it doesn’t work. Most gel types make my skin stretchy too, that’s why I am not so enthu about using gel-based sunscreens and moisturizers, they don’t work that well 🙁

  2. Gels are not meant for dry skin as they dont give proper hydration, you can use this gel as a masque after steaming your face but dont use as a lotion especially in winters, Im sure this will work okay as a masque…!!! 😀

  3. Rati, its pretty obvious the SA wasn’t well informed/trained – I went to FE a few weeks back and asked for a moisturizer for oily sensitive skin and this is what was recommended to me – so I guess something must be wrong here if the SAs are suggesting the same thing for dry skin as well as oily skin! Sad that it dint work for you

    1. yeah… actually i found that SA a bit pushy which is not normally the case with SAs at FE. she was just so desperate to sell everything from incense sticks to the body lotion. but honestly they should not write it for all skin types.. because it is clearly not. 🙁

  4. Hi .. I have normal skin which gets a little dry during winters…I have used this before and it worked perfect esp. during hot and rainy seasons. When I had gone to buy this , I remember the SA had told me to” buy it only if you have oily skin”.But with winters coming , this wont even work for normal skinned ppl.

Overall,it is good for normal for oily skinned beauties 🙂

  5. I have oily skin and have tried so many moisturizers but they end up being so greasy on my face.
These hydrate my skin perfectly without making my face look like a oilpan.they also slightly control oil which I
Love.these gels are meant for oily skin not for dry skin.my latest love these are 🙂

  6. I am using the light hydrating Aloe vera Facial gel from FE. and I faced the same problem like you, after a while it used to make my skin dry and stretchy with dry patches. Then I reduced the quantity like I took a very very less amount and added a drop of water to it and then apply. My skin doesnt get dry and stretchy with this anymore 😀

  7. oh, so sad… nice review, and nice pics too… the color of the gel in the tub looks so cute!
i have super oily skin, but gels make my skin stretchy too… gels should be restricted to under-eye areas, i feel… and for those with fine facial hair, gels can be a nightmare.. 😛

  8. hawww, why she gav u gel for ur diriy iskin 😐 this one and that panchpushp one I use for my oily iskin 😐
acha u try that sanjeevani elixir somthing, that shud b good for u 🙂

  9. This is sad! iam shocked SA’s at FE are like this .. thank god i got the Light Day Lotion Rose and Marigold on your recommendation and not this gel 🙂 ..
