Forest Essentials Madurai Jasmine and Mogra Hair Cleanser Review

Reviewing another hair cleanser from Forest Essentials for you all – it’s the Madurai Jasmine and Mogra variant. I have reviewed the Bitter Orange and Cinnamon Hair Cleanser here. I think Forest Essentials have hiked the price of their hair cleansers, now all of them are priced at Rs. 775, earlier they were available at Rs. 680. Read on to know more about this shampoo.

My Take on Forest Essentials Madurai Jasmine and Mogra Hair Cleanser:

You have to sniff this one to believe how awesome this smells! It’s strictly for floral fragrance lovers though – you know for the true jasmine and mogra lovers. I have never put flowers in my hair, but if this is how Madurai jasmine smells, I want to. This hair cleanser comes in a 200 ml bottle and the texture is thick and one can dilute it with water and then lather it up on wet hair. Just like the Bitter Orange variant, this shampoo too lathers well, but if you have oiled your hair heavily, it might not be able to take it all down in one rinse and double the quantity would be required to do so.

Forest Essentials Madurai Jasmine and Mogra Hair Cleanser

This shampoo claims to be a natural product with herbal extracts and free from parabens, sulphates, and petrochemicals. It’s all good and will benefit hair in the long run. However, it will not give you lustrous and gorgeous hair.  It does add shine, but not volume or bounce. I feel my hair rather falls flat with Forest Essential shampoos. It’s helpful in taming frizzy hair and adding shine, but if you love bouncy hair, this will disappoint.

Quantity, I feel is not great because I think it’s getting over soon. Whenever I oil my hair, I need extra and the dilution trick doesn’t work here.  When I was using this cleanser in December, my hair would get oily within two to three days and I needed to wash my hair again on the third or fourth day by which time my hair would get completely greasy.

Forest Essentials Madurai Jasmine and Mogra Hair Cleanser

Like Bitter Orange variant, this one too is a bounce killer, but I just love the fragrance of this one.  The scent lingers in the hair for 1-1/2 to 2 days and it’s pretty relaxing.  If you are into styling your hair, it’s better to use your regular shampoo that’s because it would make hair flat and you would not be able to get the desired volume. Another good thing about this shampoo is that it does not dry out the hair like the Bitter Orange variant.

Forest Essentials Madurai Jasmine and Mogra Hair Cleanser

Overall, this is an average shampoo that is free from parabens, sulphates, etc., and might benefit you in the long run, with a great fragrance and natural extracts.  I would get this again, but that’s for the fragrance, will alternate it with my regular shampoos.

  1. Thanks Jomol. I’ll be skipping it as I oil heavily and also I need bounce in my hair. And I hate heavy fragrances. I prefer mild or no fragrance in my hair. *pigtail*

By the way, I need your advice. I’m having sensitive acne prone but dry to combination skin. I’m thinking of buying forest essentials night cream. Should I go for the dry skin sandalwood variant or oily skin patchouli one?
If you have used plz let me know as I know you too have sensitive skin. *shy*

    1. Hi Shilpa…..if you have dry and sensitive skin, I think you should pick night cream for Clinique. They have really good ones. But if you are looking at forest essentials only, I suggest you go for the sandalwood one.

  3. I didn’t like this. I feel Mashobra honey variant was better for my hair. Even after application of a conditioner my hair used to get dried. I just wanted this to get over ASAP. Today is the last day of this shampoo for me. I won’t buy this again. I might try other variants. Maybe Bengal tuberose. U already mentioned that Orange one is also drying.

    1. Chitra…..actually, Bitter Orange dries out the hair completely. This one doesn’t do that much. Actually, I am not so happy with any of the forest essential shampoos 🙁 I am reviewing Bengal Tuberose soon 🙂

  4. My hair is already too flat… *headbang* *headbang* god i can’t imagine how will i look after using this *headbang* but the fragrance description sounds amazing… *woot* *woot* wanna badly try FE stuff nowww *happydance* *happydance*
