My Take on Forest Essentials Ultra Rich Body Lotion Soundarya with Natural SPF 25:

The truth is I feel too lazy to use sunscreen on my body! I actually have to convince myself to apply one, but since I have really sensitive skin I can hardly skip it. I have always used Vaseline sunscreens or Lotus ones. I don’t prefer sunscreens with natural SPF as I feel they are not as good as other clinical ones in giving sun protection. But I absolutely looove FE Rose day lotion, and it also has natural SPF 25, so I thought about giving this body lotion a try.

label

The packaging is pretty simple. There is this long transparent bottle with a pump dispenser. I don’t why but I miss the outer cardboard packaging. It kind of feels incomplete! But the bottle comes sealed in a plastic wrap, so all good here. I don’t know whether it comes in a travel size, as online there is just one size available.
The lotion belongs to the Soundarya range, which is I guess the most expensive range of FE, owing to the “24 carat bhasma” use in the range! The range also has an ubtan, a serum, day cream (Rati’s go-to day cream) and a beauty oil. Now I seriously don’t know what percentage of that gold bhasma goes into the making of this lotion, but the hefty price tag says it should better be good!

bottle

The lotion is pale yellow as you can see in the pictures. On hearing “ultra rich,” you think that it is some heavy, hard-to-absorb, goopy lotion. I thought so! I actually thought it would be a bad choice for summers, but this lotion was a pleasant surprise. It is really light, like watery light. I like that I don’t have to rub it on your skin for ages to get absorbed. Few strokes and you are done. It makes skin smooth and supple and my skin passes the scratch test (don’t know from where I got that!).

pump

Coming to the performance, the lotion is light but quite moisturizing. The best part is it actually feels cool when you apply it. I mainly apply it on my arms and neck and I don’t feel sweaty with this on. Presently the temperature is still moderate, so I am not sure how it will behave in peak summers! But this is the perfect body lotion for the current weather, neither too thick nor too light. I mainly stay indoors, and use this only when I go out. And when I go out, I don’t stay out in the sun for too long. I feel SPF 25 provides enough protection for few hours out in the sun as I haven’t got any tan/burn so far with this applied. It doesn’t give you any white cast on skin like other sunscreens.

swatch

Now something I am not very fond of, which is the fragrance! It smells strongly of sandalwood (though sandalwood oil is mentioned at the end of the list), which I am not a fan of. I know few people love the fragrance but I am not one of them! And in summers, you feel the need to smell something crisp and fresh, right?

So overall, it is a nice, hydrating lotion, with the goodness of some great natural ingredients.

Not-so-Good Things about Forest Essentials Ultra Rich Body Lotion Soundarya with Natural SPF 25:

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Forest Essentials Ultra Rich Body Lotion Soundarya with Natural SPF 25?
I won’t be repurchasing it as there is always a new body lotion in the market to try out. But I would recommend it to those who love splurging on skincare and who are looking for a light hydrating body lotion with the added benefit of SPF.
