Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream Review

Hope all of you are enjoying month end of 2015! 2016 is almost upon us so any resolutions yet? I have made resolution to get rid of all useless clothes, stuffs, products via donation or simply toss in trash bins. I am not an avid follower of Feng Shui or any similar concepts but I do believe that cluttering our house with useless stuffs often hinders positive vibes and peace of mind. Even I noticed myself that a clean and clutter free room makes me feel better and peaceful, however makeup stash is excluded from this concept 😛

Anyways, today I am here to talk about one of disappointments which will surely end up in trash sooner or later. I have tried and liked Fresh brand products especially the eye makeup remover and soy face cleanser but this hydrating rose gel cream taught me bitter lesson in harsh way. Let’s talk more about Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream!

What it is formulated to do:

My Experience with Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream:

The gel cream comes in white opaque plastic bottle packaging with pump dispenser and safety cap. It has a strong rose fragrance with subtle hints of cucumber, which lingers on for some time. Over all, I find it pretty hygienic, user friendly and travel friendly packaging.

The pale white translucent gel has perfect consistency neither runny nor thick, just apt for dissipating on skin within minutes. I need 2 pumps for my face and additional 1 pump for neck. The formula seems more suitable for normal skin, unlike my weird combination skin which suffers dry patches on cheeks quite often. I feel this formula can be tricky for most dry, sensitive skin beauties including oily skin as well, especially in winters.

Firstly the gel creams seldom work for me; secondly it broke me out within 2 days of usage. Scary, huh! Oh yes gals, it is simply impossible for me to get blemishes in winters as the weather favor my skin type to make it flawless for few months thankfully; but this cream turned tables in single night, whoops!

I really liked the texture of cream at first, as it was completely absorbed on my skin with gentle massage stroke leaving pretty dewy yet oil-free skin. But then I noticed oily t-zone within 3-4 hours of wear time on the very first day and to make matters worse, I replaced it to my night cream hoping to get benefits of this intense rich gel cream! It was my biggest goof-up ever. I applied it at night hoping to see well rested hydrated skin by morning but as I woke up I felt itching due to slight dryness and when I touched my skin it was full of bumps.

You know how it feels to wake up with zillion teeny zits that too when you are on vacation  I was so scared that I skipped looking in mirror for one whole day, even cancelled my meet up plans with hubby’s friends can you believe 😛 At first I could not digest the fact that this cream gave me such suffering (I was suspicious for “pms-ing” & my irregular sleeping pattern) so I again repeated my mistake to use it post shower and this time the zits appeared within hour of application. It was heart breaking deal, as I was such a fool to pack only this gel cream in my luggage but thankfully we had local pharmacy near to our hotel and I purchased lacto calamine going back to basic.

I am yet to determine that one notorious ingredient in its formula which proved fatal for my skin as I have tried many gel creams before and none of them caused me so much suffering even though I hardly liked them as well! Leave aside the hydrating factor; I feel this formula is really tricky for sensitive skin type. Imagine if it can cause blemishes on my skin then there are endless possibilities for sensitive, dry skin type. And talking about the moisturizing property I seriously did not notice any pleasant hydration effect on my skin.

As I discussed earlier, my skin becomes slightly drier at cheek and chin leaving T zone hence I need intense hydrating lotion for winters and that is the reason this rose hydrating gel was picked but this was my biggest mistake ever. It didn’t provide any soothing or calming relief to my skin.

To my surprise, it has been almost 2-3 weeks since we came back from vacation and my acne/zits are still under healing process yet not vanished completely  Even I suffered those scary cystic acne type blemishes on my neck region too! This also makes me really curious to find out which skin type is suitable for this product? I would suggest staying away from this gel cream especially if you have sensitive dry, combination/oily problematic skin. It might accentuate/aggravate your existing issues and thinking of worse, it might break you out like crazy even if you never suffered from acne! I won’t ever try it again not even in my far dreams.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream:

• A tempting ingredients list of cucumber, rose extract etc with perfect gel formula.
• It spread easily on skin leaving subtle dewy yet matte skin for 2-3 hours.
• It might help in decent hydration on particular skin type if not every skin type.
• It might be suitable for flawless beauty with problem free normal skin type.
• Pretty user friendly, hygienic and travel friendly packaging.

Cons of Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream:

• It broke me out in one night. Ouch!
• Skin felt quite irritated with itching and discomfort from several zits in one single night.
• It is really tricky for sensitive skin.
• It has tendency to accentuate or aggravate your existing skin issues.
• I could not notice any hydrating benefits of this formula on my oily skin type.
• Pricey.

Honestly I really want to toss it in a bin unlike giving away to my sister or friends even. I tried giving it a break and then using again after week or so but every time I ended up with million zits growing bigger than ever. I don’t think it is suitable for any skin type if you ask my opinion still if you are also lured by those tempting claims and ingredients than try it on your own risk 😛
