Garnier Ambre Solaire Light & Silky SPF 30 Protection Lotion Review

by Amrita M.

Hello Beautiful IMBB readers!

Hope all are enjoying the summer. Today in this blog I am going to review a sun protection lotion and it is Ambre Solaire SPF 30 from Garnier (this is for the first time I am going to review any product. So, my dear readers, please give your valuable feedback to improve my future reviews). I got this product and used it for the first time, when I was in London and after that this sun protection lotion has become one of my favorite products before going outside in the daytime. As I have oily skin, I have used many sun protection lotions from numerous brands before using this product of Garnier. But wasn’t satisfied as all of them became sticky and my T-zone area sweats too much. Then one of my friends suggested me to use this product. Though not convinced enough because of my previous experiences with these types of products, I still bought the Garnier Ambre Solaire from the local supermarket.

Packaging:
Packaging of the product is good enough. The creamy textured lotion comes in a good neat and flat bottle with nice color combination. The bottle comes in white color with a bright sun colored cap. The bottle is handy and convenient so that you can easily carry it in your handbag.

Ingredients:
Garnier Ambre Solaire Light Silky SPF 30 Protection Lotion

Claims:
As per the brand, this Ambre Solaire Sun Protection Lotion:

  • Absorbed quickly by the Skin.
  • Feels no-sticky, non-greasy.
  • Protects against UVA and UVB.
  • Protects against skin damages caused by Sun.
  • Protects from Premature aging caused by Sunrays.
  • Provides 24 hours of skin Hydration.

Price:
This product is too costly. It costs GBP 14 for a 200ml bottle. But sometimes it comes in 2 for 1 offer.

My Experience with Garnier Ambre Solaire Light & Silky SPF 30 Protection Lotion:

As my skin is very much prone to sun tan, I need sunscreen with a high SPF. After hearing lots of good stuff about this product, I used it for the first time in late 2011. And from then I prefer to use only this Ambre Solaire before going outside. The lotion is thick and has a soft cream like texture. I need only a pea size quantity to apply all over my face and neck. The same amount is again enough for my hand area and feet also. It is not at all greasy and sticky. It absorbs into the skin quickly after applying. But after 1-2 hours of sun exposure, I need to re-apply the lotion. So, it is little bit annoying, as one cannot apply and re-apply the sun protection lotion in a 2-3 hours journey or most outdoor activities (actually I faced the problem during the walking tour under the scorching sun in my Italy trip).

Though the product claims that it has a light fragrance, it is a bit stronge to me and honestly I do not like these types of fragrances. So, after applying the lotion on my face I always puffed some compact powder to reduce the fragrance. With applying the compact powder on it, the fragrance becomes lighter and according to my observation, the lotions stays on the skin for a longer time (but not more than 2 hours). At the day end, after cleaning my face with plain water I can really feel the differences between this Garnier Ambre Solaire sun protection lotion and other sun protection creams. It really works on my face and really leaves almost zero tan marks on my T-zone and cheeks. The lotion is just perfect for both summer and winter. So, I use it all year round

Garnier Ambre Solaire Light Silky SPF 30 Protection Lotion

Pros of Garnier Ambre Solaire Light & Silky SPF 30 Protection Lotion:

  • The lotion is non-sticky which according to me is a must have sun protection lotion.
  • It is very light and absorbs quickly after applying.
  • It is water resistance, so that water cannot wash it from the skin.
  • Skin looks fresh and hydrated after using it.

Cons of Garnier Ambre Solaire Light & Silky SPF 30 Protection Lotion:

  • Fragrance is too strong for me.
  • Needs frequent re-applying during longer outdoor exposure.
  • A bit costly (if not in 2 for 1 offer).
  • Not easily available in India.

IMBB Rating:
4/5 (I would like to give it 5/5 if only I can change the fragrance… 🙁 (sorry for that).

Would I repurchase/recommend Garnier Ambre Solaire Light & Silky SPF 30 Protection Lotion?
