Hello Lovely Ladies,
I am back from a lovely vacation in Pattaya! Sun, pool, lovely food, a wee bit of shopping and lot of tantrums from kids (which is usual) – these pretty much made up my vacation! Today, I review another Lip Maestro from Giorgio Armani. To me, these are an absolute game-changing product. Liquid lipstick, which dry to a matte finish WITHOUT drying up your lips. Spoiler alert – I LOVE THESE!! So, if you don’t want to read rest of the review and just go and get one of these for yourself – do that!! I have previously reviewed 401 Tibetan Orange (my absolute favorite of the lot) and #503 Red Fuchsia. And today I bring you another shade $504 Ecstasy!
Though you would see them categorized at a number of places as lip gloss, I totally disagree. These are way too pigmented to be lip glosses. They are actually liquid/cream lipsticks.
Benefits: The first lip stain with a comfortable velvet texture and a radiant finish. Intense, seductive, illuminating color. Giorgio Armani introduces Lip Maestro: the next generation of lip color. Lips appear instantly plumped and radiant. The sensual, non-sticky texture offers hours of hydration. Technology: Concentrated pigments permeate the gel formula, offering an incredible depth of color. No underlying white “base” means color stays true for a flawless, matte and glowing finish.

“With Lip Maestro, we wanted to create pure, vibrant colors that fit with every complexion. Outstanding, luxurious colors enhanced in a luminous matte formula.” -Linda Cantello, Makeup Artist for Giorgio Armani Cosmetics.
The product comes packaged in a lip gloss kind of packaging with GA logo prominently displayed. The cap is red in colour, while the tube with the product is transparent. So, it’s easy its to identify the colour, in case you have more than one of these. Try them, you will end up having more than one! The bottle comes packaged in the standard GA black outer box. The applicator is a soft and bendy – refer pics. Makes for easy and precise application.
My Experience with Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro – #504 Ecstasy:
Color: The colour is Ecstasy, it’s an absolute gorgeous fully saturated fuchsia! It’s bold and it’s bright. This one is pretty much in your face. However, it isn’t garish (Like MAC Candy Yum Yum). The colour demands focus. You would need to keep everything else subtle. It’s beautiful enough to suit almost all skin tones. For a lighter dab of colour, you could just dab the product with a finger and it will work like a stain.
The liquid lipstick is lightweight – it’s a mix of gel and velvet. When applied, it has a natural sheen (no shimmer or glossiness), however, in an hour, it settles to a matte finish. Though matte, the product does not dehydrate the lip. Rather it wears very comfortably without accentuating the lines. I am the perfect candidate to test it as I have fairly dry lips which do not go well with matte lipsticks. This one is an absolute exception. The product is easy to apply form the applicator. It goes on smooth and evenly – no patchiness whatsoever.
Pigmentation: This one is insanely pigmented, one light swipe deposits 100% colour. You actually need very little product for full, even application – a little does go a long way. The colour is opaque in the first swipe itself and hides lip pigmentation.
Lasting Power: The product lasted about 7-7.5 hours on me – it sure is long-lasting. It will not come off fully on its own – you will need to use a makeup remover or cleanser for this. It leaves behind a soft stain – nothing garish.
The only flip side I felt was transference. It transfers on touch. The transfer has a powdery feel.
A little secret I will share with you – although not advertised as such by Armani, the product makes for a lovely lip and cheek variant. Not just this colour, but others as well. Meaning, you could also use it on your cheeks and it works as an amazing stain. You need very little product to work with and the results are fabulous. The colour on the cheek is staining, so it lasts for good 6.5 – 7 hours or so – even on my oily skin.
To sum this up for you:
Pros of Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro – #504 Ecstasy:
- A bold and beautiful color– you need loads of confidence to carry this one!
- Lightweight texture – mix of gel and velvety feel.
- Excellent pigmentation – opaque in a single swipe.
- Hydrating despite being matte! How often do you hear these words together?
- Easy to apply with the applicator.
- It applies smoothly and evenly – no tug or pull!
- Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
- Lasts for about 7-7.5 hours.
- No feathering or bleeding.
- Iconic Luxe packaging.
- Easy to identify colour from the tube itself.
- Multi-purpose – can be used as a cheek stain/blush as well.
Cons of Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro – #504 Ecstasy:
- Not available in India.
- Though easy to apply with the applicator – one has to be careful – the colour is extremely bold and mistakes will look garishly visible.
- Powdery transference.
A 4.9/5 product (I deduct a little for the transference which can be a bit annoying).
You have to try this product to realize how absolutely fabulous it is. My most favorite shade from this range has to be this one and Tibetan Orange. However, if bright isn’t the way to go for you – there is option of a number of other MLBB and darker shades too, you just have to check the line.
