Today, I am here to review one of my very few treasures, those who have this will definitely know what I mean. During my hubby’s recent visit to US, I had told him to pick up some makeup stuff for me. Ever since I started hearing the ravings about the products from this brand, I have been wanting to try their lipstick collection. So without much suspense, I am unveiling the curtain and presenting to you, my new lipstick from Giorgio Armani. This is from their new range “Rouge Ecstasy.” I think by now you all know how much I love light shades and so here is another one from this elite brand. Please read on further to see the performance of this cute little baby.

With Rouge Ecstasy, the Giorgio Armani laboratories push the boundaries of the exceptional even further with the first “CC” lipstick.  “Color and Care” – new innovative hybrid product that marks the start of a new era in lipstick.  Care: Rouge Ecstasy offers the comfort and softness of a lip balm, leaving lips repaired and beautifully enhanced day after day.  Color: This velvety soft, everyday lipstick coats the lips in saturated, ultra-luminous shades with impeccable hold. Application is simple, precise and effective.

My Take on Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Excess Moisture Lip Color – Lotus 507:

Packaging:  The lipstick comes in a black outer cover with silver imprints which looks quite ordinary, but the casing of the lipstick is very beautiful, luxe and elegant, a real treat to watch. I actually admired the packing for a long time before opening it. The lipstick is enclosed in a bright, bold red metallic casing which has a magnetic closure, which is quite awesome and there is also the GA logo stamped in the middle.  It really looks like pure luxury.

Colour:  It is a beautiful soft neutral pink with cool undertones, typical shade of lotus flower, just as the name suggests. It is a very subtle shade and might not suit all skin tones.  It is best suited for light/medium skin tones.

Texture:  The lipstick has a slick balm-like texture which glides smoothly but not as smooth as butter. It does not have a creamy nature, it’s more like a gel consistency, When I first applied the lipstick, it glided smoothly but accentuated all the dry areas of my lips. I actually got a heartbreak seeing my lips in the mirror; after spending all the money, if this is the look I get, I think you all can imagine my dilemma. I immediately exfoliated my lips, removed all traces of dryness and applied again, and this time, it spread in an even consistency creating a smooth flawless look.

Finish:  It gives a light glossy finish right after application which settles down to a semi-matte stain and also gives enough hydration and moisturization to the lips throughout the wear. Moreover, it gives a luminous finish to the lips. It also does not settle into lip lines and gives a smooth finish.

Pigmentation and Coverage:  It gives a sheer look after one swipe, but can be built up to almost full coverage.  Even though it gives near full coverage, because of the luminous finish, it does not give opacity to your lips. Darker shades in the range might give a more opaque look, this being a light shade might not be a favourite choice for highly pigmented lips. I love the feel of the lipstick on my lips, it gives a “barely there” feel and is very lightweight.

Staying Power:  It has an amazing staying power, stayed around 6 to 7 hours with drinking and light snacking. After a heavy meal, it faded a bit, but still there was light pink stain on my lips. There was no feathering or bleeding, it stayed put throughout the wear and there was very little transference to cups and cutlery.

Fragrance:  It had a very subtle nondescript smell which was not at all overwhelming, I actually liked it.

I love the lipstick in every aspect except for highlighting dry areas; now onward, I have to take special care of my lips before I apply the lipstick.

Pros of Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Excess Moisture Lip Color – Lotus 507:

• The lipstick has a balmy gel-like texture which glides smoothly on the lips.
• It gives a slightly glossy and luminous finish to your lips right after application and settles down to a semi-matte stain.
• Gives enough hydration and moisturization necessary for your lips, throughout the wear.
• Does not settle into lip lines and gives a smooth even finish.
• There is no feathering or bleeding during any time of the wear, it stays put.
• The elegant luxe packing of the lipstick is a delight to carry around everywhere.

Cons of Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Excess Moisture Lip Color – Lotus 507:

• It highlights all the dry areas of your lips if not properly exfoliated tending to create a total uneven finish.
• It might wash out dusky skin tones, but totally depends upon personal choice.
• A little expensive, but worth it.

IMBB Rating:

4.8/5. I would recommend this lipstick for all fair/medium skinned beauties, dusky skin beauties.  Do try it out before you spend a fortune. These lipsticks are available in 36 gorgeous colours, where you can find at least one shade to suit your skin tone and your personal liking. I think every girl should own at least one Armani.

Would I Repurchase Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Excess Moisture Lip Color – Lotus 507?

No, this has a long way to go, but I would like to try other shades from the range.
