Shade I bought : 6-Mat Gold (I’m NC42-45 in MAC).
My Experience with Givenchy Eclat Matissime Fluid Foundation:
The product comes in a small black plastic bottle with pump dispenser. The pump dispenses controlled amount of product each time I press it. I did not face any problem with it so far. 6-Mat Gold and 7-Mat Ginger looked pretty close to my medium-tan skin tone, but when I tried it at the store, 6-Mat Gold matched better and 7-Mat Ginger looked muddy. So, I went with 6-Mat Gold. The shade selection is not very impressive I would say.
The foundation has liquid consistency, and you have to shake it well before each use for the pigments to mix well. The big pro of this foundation is how easily it blends on the skin. I would just dot it all over my face and use my finger to blend it, and that would get a very good result. I occasionally use my Sigma F80 to just give that one last buff, which would even things out little more.
This foundation gives light to medium, buildable coverage. If you are a person who always looks for full coverage, this product may disappoint you. I use a concealer along with this foundation to cover my under eye dark circles and also any darkness around my mouth. Once applied on the face, it feels thin and watery and sets within 10-20 seconds. So, make sure to blend within that period, to get an even finish. Freshly applied, it looks very natural and does not cake up easily. Though the name says “matte,” it gives a natural luminous finish when freshly applied.
All the good things about this product ends with that for me. Within a few hours of application, my nose starts to become so shiny that I have to blot it up. As the day proceeds, my whole face starts looking greasy and oily. I have tried setting this foundation with a powder , but it didn’t help much.
Also, I have tried two different primers, but none helped the foundation to stay longer. By mid day, I would look like I haven’t applied any makeup at all. Also, my blush wouldn’t stay for long time on top of this foundation.
I do not have an oily skin. The sole reason for trying this foundation was to get a natural matte finish during summer months, when my skin tends to get oilier on the t-zone, but it totally failed to serve the purpose. If it made my combination skin so greasy and oily, I wonder how it would work for people with oily skin.
Pros of Givenchy Eclat Matissime Fluid Foundation:
- Goes on very smooth.
- Blends easily.
- Gives a natural finish on application.
- Does not accentuate minor dry patches.
- Has SPF 20.
- Feels very light and comfortable on skin.
Cons of Givenchy Eclat Matissime Fluid Foundation:
- Does not give a long-lasting matte finish.
- Longevity is not very impressive.
- Skin becomes greasy by end of the day.
- Limited shade selection.
I had high hopes from this foundation as I had read so many good reviews, but I didn’t have a great experience with it. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this, but if you are really interested in giving it a try, I would suggest to try it on full face at the store and give it a good 4-5 hours to see how it works on your skin before you decide to buy.
