I have been away….did you miss me? It has been a maddening couple of weeks – first the deadline to put up the stuff in blog sale; then the D Day and the mad rush that its been ever since. I didn’t know blog sale meant so much work for the person conducting it!! Tracking all the comments, emails, payments, follow-ups, packing and tracking!!! Phew! And in the middle of it all – I caught viral and 2 days went in a blur of exhaustion and body ache! Finally, one batch of parcels is on its way, second one is ready to go tomorrow, but it doesn’t get over still – need to track till each reaches each individual, I can see the madness which team IMBB must bear, especially Jomol, on the bidding day! Hats off to you!

Now that I am back, I had to come back with a bang and nothing makes a bang quite like a Givenchy Le Rouge! Right from their iconic packaging to their sensuous semi-matte finish to their wearable colours.  Let’s find out more about these babies.

Product Details:

As timeless as Audrey Hepburn’s little black dress.  Le Rouge transforms you into a style icon with its signature semi-matte finish and genuine lambskin leather case.  Each shade is specially concentrated with intense color pigments for easy one-stroke application that lasts throughout the day. This lipstick defines, plumps, and moisturizes lips with its unique lightweight shaping formula and non-sticky texture.  Lips are sensuously dressed in radiant semi-matte color that is soft to the touch.

What it is:

An intense semi-matte lipstick and leather accessory in one.

What it does:

More than a lipstick, this is the new accessory for women’s lips. Encased in genuine leather that’s soft and supple to the touch, this long-lasting lipstick perfectly defines lips in one stroke.

$36 in US / In India @ INR 2700.

Packaging:

The packaging is beautiful, eye-catching and iconic. Just like a YSL Voluptes or Guerlain Rouge Gs is identifiable from a mile away, so are these. Encased in genuine lambskin leather. Did it really have to be leather – debatable – I guess its about creating a statement and hype.  You disengage the lipstick from the lambskin leather cap and the bullet has a normal twist-up mechanism. The lipstick bullet bears the Givenchy logo, very upmarket, very luxe!  Again, no shade indicator. Comes packaged in a cardboard box and I prefer to store them in the box, lest the leather (very thin layer) gets scratched or torn. So, I am not likely to happily toss it into my bag on the run.  The photographs do not do justice to the packaging!

My Experience with Givenchy Le Rouge – Rose Dressing:

Color: The colour Rose Dressing is described on the website as “bright coral pink.” To me, it is a soft coral pink, its not too pastel, nor is it too bright, just a touch of sophistication!. The most talked about colours from this range would probably have been fuchsia. However, when I was planning to pick Givenchy Le Rouge, I was fairly sick of fuchsias and wanted to try a colour which was different, a little away from what I normally wear. So, I picked this. Come on! it isn’t a full on coral, gurrrls!

Texture: The texture is lightweight, creamy, settles into a semi-matte finish, the lips do not LOOK or FEEL dry. On the contrary, the lips feel hydrated while worn. This has to be the most easy-on-the-lips matte lipstick that you would ever have come across. You do not need a lip balm below this.

Pigmentation: The product is high on pigmentation, one swipe deposits 90-95% colour. Had I never used Giorgio Armani lipsticks, I would have said that this deposited 100% pigmentation in one go. However, this is very very close.

Lasting Power:  This one is definitely from the long-lasting range, I got easy wear of 5.5-6 hours. Post which, it left a faint pink even stain.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Givenchy Le Rouge – Rose Dressing:

• A beautiful pinkish coral color.
• The BEST semi-matte lipstick formula out there.
• Extremely lightweight and comfortable-to-wear texture.
• Great pigmentation.
• Easy to apply from the tube.
• The lipstick is moisturizing and applies like a dream, no tug or pull!
• Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
• There was no feathering or bleeding.
• Luxurious, beautiful iconic packaging.

Cons of Givenchy Le Rouge – Rose Dressing:

• Givenchy products are not as easily available in India – in Mumbai, only Juhu Shopper’s Stop has a counter.
• The product has fragrance, supposed to be mimosa and black currant, I personally do not like it. Its faint and dissipates quick, but…

IMBB Rating:

Yes, a 5.9/5 product.

I would have given it a 6/5, had it not been for the fragrance!! 😛 This is one of the best lipstick formulas out there, far superseding Chanel Cocos and Dior Diorifics.  You have to try it to believe it!
