Glossier Soothing Face Mist Review

Hello everyone,

This review will be on the Glossier Soothing Face Mist.

Glossier Soothing Face Mist

Product Description:
Ever thought you’d spray water onto your face right after you washed it? No? Well, this isn’t just water, per se. It’s made with roses and aloe to hydrate, soothe, and leave you feeling fresh and awake, prepping your skin for the Priming Moisturizer. Also excellent as a makeup refresher and midday pick-me-up.
Price:
$18 for 4 fl oz.

My Experience with Glossier Soothing Face Mist:

Like all Glossier products, the packaging is very minimalistic but it is sleek, sturdy and functional. This spray nozzle delivers a fine mist which covers a nice-sized area hence you do not need more than a couple of spritz completely to cover your face.

There is directed usage for this product. You simply spray it whenever and how much ever you desire. Since it is hot summer time here in Texas, I love keeping a face mist handy for when I need a refreshing “pick me up” for my skin. I use this spray multiple times a day, but particularly after washing my face (when I am too lazy to put on a moisturizer) to bring back some hydration back into my skin while also toning it.

Though it is quite refreshing with the initial spritz, it does make my skin tingle and itch but it does stop as soon as the mist dries on my skin. I feel like it does add a bit of hydration on my skin and I can also feel my skin feeling a bit tight (not in a bad way) and firm. It does not leave a lot of dewiness once it dries on the skin.

Glossier Soothing Face Mist

Though it is advised on the bottle to avoid spraying it into eyes which I do not intentionally do, but if that ever does happen, this product stings like hell! And I am not exaggerating! It turns my eyes bloodshot in a matter of seconds. I have used this over my makeup (not as a setting spray) just to get rid of the heavy cakey powdery look and it has gotten in my eye and made my eyes water and ruined my eye makeup on more than one occasion. The only way I can prevent this is to cover my eyes with my hands to avoid getting even a tiny droplet in my eyes. I do not like this at all.

This mist does smell strongly of rose water which I do not hate, but if you are sensitive to scents you may not like this.

Overall, I am not too happy with this product. It does perform decent in terms of refreshing my skin but does not give me a lot of benefits for me to justify or overlook the cons. I have used quite a few face mists (my favorite being the one from Herbivore-Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Face Mist and also Avene thermal water) and compared to those this one from Glossier rates the lowest. I would not recommend this.

Pros of Glossier Soothing Face Mist:

  • Refreshes the skin during hot summer days.
  • Gives a light boost of hydration and toning effect when used after cleansing.

Cons of Glossier Soothing Face Mist:

  • Even if the tiniest drop gets into your eye, it will sting and burn like nothing else!
  • Has a strong scent of roses. Not favorable to those who are sensitive to scents.
  • Makes my skin tingle and itch initially, but the feeling does go away, hence I would not say this is suitable for sensitive skin.
