Glossier Stretch Concealer Review

Hello everyone,

One thing I can’t live without is my concealer. Being someone who has genetic dark circles, I can easily look like someone punched me in the eye on my bad days hence I am always looking for good concealers to try out. This review will be on the Glossier Stretch Concealer in the shade “Medium.”

Glossier Stretch Concealer

Product Description:
A traditional concealer sets to a stiff, flat, dry finish—a dead giveaway that you’re wearing it. Ours is a new type of concealer with elastic micro waxes that move with your face instead of caking on top of it, and nourishing oils that give a dewy, glowing finish. The buildable formula covers everything from dark circles to redness and zits. In five shades painstakingly developed to enhance, brighten, and—most importantly—completely disappear into the widest range of skin tones.

My Experience with Glossier Stretch Concealer:

Packaging:  Though this concealer with its jar packaging cannot be considered very hygienic as you have to constantly keep dipping your finger in it. Though you could use a brush, I rarely find myself doing so. Apart from this, the jar feels quite sturdy and will be easy to travel with.

Texture and Blendability:  This is a very creamy emollient concealer. It is quite easy to blend this onto the skin. A couple of dabs and voila, it sinks into the skin and looks so very natural. Due to its creamy texture, I do feel the need to set this concealer immediately post application or else it can easily crease. Due to this quality, I wouldn’t see this product to be a best fit for mature ladies with prominent wrinkles and it can easily settle into them.

Coverage and Finish: This concealer has light-medium buildable coverage. I find the coverage sufficient for when I am doing a “no-makeup” makeup look or using it just on its own to lightly conceal my imperfections and brighten my under eye circles and look less like a zombie :P. I would not reach for it when I am going a full glam makeup look which requires heavy coverage.  If you are building up the coverage, it is best to not wait between layers to dry as that can make the concealer get uneven and blotchy. The faster you work with it, the better the results and once it sets, its best not to fuss with it too much as I have noticed that can make the product get patchy easily. This concealer has a satin/dewy finish. I am not a fan of this kind of finish for the under eyes hence I will almost always do a light dusting of powder to turn the finish to matte.

Shade:  This concealer comes in 5 shades. I find the shade “Medium” to be a perfect match for my MAC NW23-25 skin tone.

Staying Power:  Once this concealer sets on the skin, it is quite budge proof and wears through decent part of the day. It wore for 6 hours before noticing some creasing on the fine lines around my eyes.

Overall, I find this product and most products from this brand Glossier geared more towards the youth (with already clear skin and less imperfections and issues like fine lines or wrinkles), teens, college-going girls who want simple, easy makeup without looking too heavy or looking like makeup.

I do like this concealer as a whole and use it quite a bit for my everyday effortless easy makeup routine. I will recommend this if you are okay with the low amount of coverage and the unhygienic method of application of the jar packaging.

Pros of Glossier Stretch Concealer:

  • Easy to blend.
  • Sink into skin and looks virtually undetectable.
  • Brightens the under-eye area making you look refreshed and less tired.
  • Light-medium coverage will concealer minor imperfections.
  • Wears up to 6 hours before creasing on me, which is decent part of the day.

Cons of Glossier Stretch Concealer:

  • Not a concealer for those desiring heavy, full coverage.
  • Has a satin finish, which I do not like. I always powder it to set it and turn it matte.
  • Does have a tendency to crease if not set and will settle in wrinkles and fine lines.
