Hope all of you are in pink of your health. I am here today to share another skincare product from my routine which is getting my attention these days. By now you all must have guessed that my skincare regime is mostly comprised of either Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare or Dr. Brandt Skincare line. And you are right if you think so, I feel both of these brands are a blessing for my weird oily skin type. I have been looking for a good eye cream after trying few and this ‘Allure Award Winner Eye Cream’ from Dr. Brandt immediately caught my attention. However, the price is always my weak point which makes me think twice before indulging in their products again. 😛 But for a beginner it surely is a treat especially when we know that it is formulated with retinol and ruby crystal complex. So, let’s read on more about Glow by Dr. Brandt Revitalizing Retinol Eye Cream!
What it is:
A revitalizing and nourishing eye cream formulated with time-released retinol and Dr. Brandt’s unique ruby crystal complex to smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and restore eyes’ youthful glow.
What it is formulated to do:
This ultra nourishing eye cream instantly illuminates and diffuses light to soften the look of lines and wrinkles, making skin softer and appear noticeably smoother. It helps improve circulation to energize and revitalize skin to overcome the effects of stress and tiredness, while counteracting dryness, redness, and irritation around the eye area and protecting skin against oxidative stress. To keep skin nice and hydrated, it binds water to the skin and prevents moisture loss.

My Experience with Glow by Dr. Brandt Revitalizing Retinol Eye Cream:
The luxurious eye cream comes in an opaque and sleek plastic bottle packaging with a pump dispenser opening and safety cap, pretty much to my liking. It does have a subtle fragrance but nothing to be concerned about. I so love its sleek, smart bottle that easily fits into our pockets. It’s an ultimate love for both hygienic as well as travel safe purpose.
The off white, shimmery eye cream is itself a treat with lightweight, gel consistency. Initially, I felt a bit turned off with those micro ruby crystals in an eye cream considering my oily skin & open pores and my intuition did come true up to some extent, though I still love it on my skin. Firstly, I feel that this eye cream is certainly great for oily eyelids, but not suitable for dry skinned beauties. It does provide intense hydration to my eyelids, but I still feel a need of using a hydrating eye cream by the end of the day which pretty much tells that it is going to be tricky for dry skin. Secondly, its ruby crystal technique is certainly good enough to blur our flaws for a while and in the long term, its time release retinol does show the magic. But, it is also my bigger concern while working on eye makeup.
Yes gals! Those shiny particles may not be bold or OTT on my eyes, but I can see them clearly through my naked eyes (upon focusing from closer distance) and they often mess up with my eye makeup primer and eye makeup. You know what I mean! There are times when I simply attempt a ‘no makeup look’ but still I can see my eyes shining with those teeny shimmer that is a blessing in disguise. I do love the healthy shine and my eyes seem well rested which implicates that the eye cream is working on my skin, but I also feel the presence of shimmers on my face that can be slightly disappointing. Let me clear those fine ruby crystals are not visible to person standing next to you but it’s me who feels conscious about it. Other than that, I simply love the way this cream feels on my skin. It instantly gets absorbed into my skin leaving behind a slightly dewy, shimmery sheen that stays put for good hours, as I said earlier.
And it not only temporarily blurs out imperfections, but with time I do see visible, clear difference in the texture of skin around my eyes, fine lines and crow’s feet as well. Even I have noticed firmer skin around my brow bone which usually puffs up and folds in making multiple creases. But with regular usage of this eye cream, I feel the skin on my brow bone became significantly contoured with blurred crease line which is quite an achievement for me. I felt it stopped progression of fine lines and crow’s feet around my eyes as I cannot trace a single one while laughing or frowning which is again an achievement; other than that, my eyes seem more youthful these days. I wish I had anything similar to this eye cream to create the magic on my facial skin. 😀 I just feel those ruby crystal shimmers could have been avoided in this eye cream as I use it sparsely during day time while my night time skincare regimen is incomplete without this eye cream.
If you ask me to choose between this eye cream and/or other lower budget eye creams, then my heart will always speak for this! I feel I get results equivalent to the hefty price I have paid, though I cannot deny the fact that it does come up with loads of unnecessary chemicals. No doubt we can get pretty good eye creams in low end budget, but once you own it you know the difference, at least I can feel that! And hence, my gut feeling wants it again, but my budget says think again! 😛
I would definitely recommend this eye cream for your night time skincare regimen especially to beauties with oily, combination skin type seeking relief from premature ageing and/or first signs of ageing. It will take care of all the concerns so well, but using it during daytime or under makeup is really tricky! I really want to get it again though I also intend to explore new launches in the beauty industry.
Let’s sum up pros and cons:
Pros of Glow by Dr. Brandt Revitalizing Retinol Eye Cream:
• A lightweight, gel consistency eye cream formulated without parabens and sulfates
• It does contain anti-ageing benefits such as Hyaluronic acid, time release retinol etc
• It instantly gets absorbed into our skin with a dewy, subtle shine due to the presence of fine ruby crystal particles
• It does not accentuate or aggravate our dry skin issues
• The presence of ruby crystal particles is certainly visible to our eyes, though it is way subtle and beyond recognition to people around
• It does provide decent hydration to our oily eyelids for good hours thereby blurring imperfections like: crow’s feet, fine lines around eyes etc
• It not only blurs them for a while, but with regular usage I have seen a permanent change in the appearance of skin around eyes
• It does not accentuate my oily skin
• It will work like charm on beauties with combination, oily skin
• Quite hygienic and travel friendly
Cons of Glow by Dr. Brandt Revitalizing Retinol Eye Cream:
• All beneficial ingredients take a back seat in the list while loads of unnecessary chemicals are first in list
• Those micro ruby crystal particles will certainly give a relief by blurring our flaws
• The subtle sheen does interfere with eye makeup
• In fact using it alone gives that subtle sheen to face which might be tricky during day time
• The price
Well, I really feel that the formula could have been slightly better and beneficial, though I still love it on my skin. But I will think twice before getting it again. Moreover, I feel making it a multi purpose eye cream to replace with primer, concealer, eye cream all at once just didn’t fall in place. I won’t mind using an eye primer as I believe in keeping our skin care regimen as natural & simple as possible and this eye cream does not fit in those beliefs at all. 😛 The choice is yours!!
