Godrej No.1 Nature White Fairness Face Wash Review

With summers making us dance to its tunes since the last few months I have resorted to frequent washing of my face to keep it oil free all the time. As a result I’ve started digging into a lot of face washes lately and have been experimenting a lot. This Godrej Fairness Face Wash is one that I came across on my recent visit to Spencers. So let’s see how this one behaved.

Product Claims:
Fairness face wash with Kashmiri kesar gives up to 50% more brighter power. Gives your skin the goodness of Kashmiri kesar which is known for its complexion enhancing properties. This gentle cleansing face wash with floral extract is nature’s way to enhance fairness.

Price: Rs 35 for 50 gms.

Directions for Use:
Wet your face. Apply a small amount and gently work up a lather using circular motion. Wash off and pat dry. In case of contact with eyes rinse off with water. Use twice daily for best results.

My Experience with Godrej No.1 Natural White Fairness Face Wash:

The face wash comes in an opaque white tube with a white flip cap and has pretty pink floral hints on it. The flip cap shuts tightly and hence there’s no risk of leaking and can easily be carried around. Overall I found the packaging quite simple and functional and anyway I wasn’t expecting much at this price.

The face wash has a mild floral fragrance and there’s nothing kesar-ish about the fragrance as I was expecting. Nevertheless, I quite enjoyed the fragrance as it’s quite mild and doesn’t cause headaches.

The face wash has an opaque creamy white texture with little orange granules which I’m guessing are the ‘Kashmiri kesar’ extracts that it claims to consist. The texture isn’t runny at all and is easy to apply on the face and lathers pretty well. Right after the first wash I could feel that it does an excellent job at cleansing the oil, dirt and my regular minimal makeup (that is, BB cream and compact) and leaves no residue behind. My t-zone is quite oily in the summers and it helps to clean the oil from my face and keeps my face oil free for quite sometime. However, this could be drying for the girls who have dry skin already and I guess they should give it a miss.

The one thing that I didn’t quite like about this one is that it contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate which is said to be carcinogenic in the longer run if used continuously. I have already used this for a week and I don’t see any noticeable fairness in my complexion and neither was I expecting this to do anything path breaking but nevertheless it does add a bit of freshness to the face post a wash which I like.

Summing up the pros and cons,

Pros of Godrej No.1 Natural White Fairness Face Wash:

• Really affordable.
• Nice and mild fragrance.
• Easily available at all grocery stores.
• Adds freshness to the face post a wash.
• Efficient in cleaning oil and dirt.
• Controls oil for quite some time.

Cons of Godrej No.1 Natural White Fairness Face Wash:

• Contains SLS.
• Can be drying for dry skinned women.
• Fairness claims are far fetched.

Final Verdict:
Overall, this is quite a decent face wash for regular use if the SLS doesn’t bother you much. I liked it for the freshness it adds to the face and its oil controlling properties and this has already become a part of my hand bag for frequent clean ups on the go. This can be a good option for girls looking for an affordable face wash with good oil clearing properties.
