Grace Cole Lavender and Camomile Softening Body Cream Review

Hi ladies,

This is going to be the review of my first ever body cream. The weather has been misbehaving since the past few weeks and as a result my skin has become extremely dehydrated and parched. This is the reason I have had to purchase body creams and body lotions. Before this, my skin never needed extra hydration, except in winters of course. I bought this particular cream because firstly this was within my price range and secondly, I love anything that has lavender in its name. This body cream belongs to their Floral range.

My Experience with Grace Cole Lavender and Camomile Softening Body Cream:

I would like to describe my experience with this body cream as good. The packaging of the cream is beautiful. It is housed in a decent-sized lavender-coloured plastic tube with intricate floral designs and a golden cap which instantly gives you a feel-good factor about your purchase.

The first thing that invariably draws your attention in a body moisturiser is its fragrance. Needless to say, I was expecting a really pleasant lavender smell as implied by the name of the cream. Sadly, that was not to be! The cream does not have a pleasant smell at all.  In fact, the fragrance isn’t even remotely floral. I cannot describe the fragrance accurately. If you combine the smell of hospital (you know the general smell of hospitals, that of disinfectant) and lavender, you will probably get the smell of this cream. The fragrance of lavender and camomile is overpowered by something that smells of disinfectant. The presence of lavender and camomile though is what makes the fragrance bearable. The fragrance, though a little overwhelming in the tube is not overpowering once applied on the skin. The good thing is that the fragrance does not linger on the skin for a very long time. It lasts for about 20-30 minutes after application. I know, I know, this is not a good quality for a body cream, but trust me, for such a fragrance, this can definitely be considered as its positive.

Now coming to its moisturising properties, I am quite satisfied with the quality offered at this price. The texture of the body cream is well, creamy. It is thicker than body lotion and thinner than body butter. It is absorbed well into the skin on application and does not result in a greasy effect. It is really light and effectively moisturizes the driest of skin. The hydrating effect it offers lasts for about 8-10 hours, that too on my very dry skin. This is the saving grace for this Grace Cole body cream :p

Pros of Grace Cole Lavender and Camomile Softening Body Cream:

  • Very moisturizing.
  • Moisturization lasts for close to 8-10 hours on my very dry skin.
  • Does not feel greasy.
  • Gets absorbed easily.
  • Free of parabens.
  • Good quantity for the price.

Cons of Grace Cole Lavender and Camomile Softening Body Cream:

  • Fragrance is really disappointing, smells like a mixture of disinfectant and lavender.
  • Fragrance lasts for around 20-30 minutes (Thank GOD!).

2/5

Would I Recommend Grace Cole Lavender and Camomile Softening Body Cream?
Skip it ladies. This body cream is a shame on the name of lavender. Though its moisturising property is good, the fragrance just does not warrant a try. It is not that you just cannot bear its smell, but better body creams are available out there.

  1. I have another variant from this brand and totally love its fragrance. Sad, the same can’t be said for this one.
