Guardian Q10 Eye Mask Review

Guardian Q10 Eye Mask

I picked up this pack of Guardian eye mask in the Guardian Pharmacy in Singapore. I wasn’t really looking to buy anything, but Guardian had ‘Buy one-Get one’ sale on these and I needed to get a change of my 50 dollars. So, obviously had no expectations from it whatsoever and even forgot about it after I got home. Probably after a week or so, I found the packs when cleaning out my dresser. That’s when I tried it for the first time, will let out the verdict later; first let’s see what it is.

Guardian Q10 Eye Mask

Guardian Q10 Eye Mask

As the name suggests, these eye masks provide the nutrition of the CoQ10, that is Coenzyme Q10. They are ‘C’ shaped eye masks that fit eye contour perfectly and allow optimal essence absorption into the skin. There are 5 pairs in one pack. Each pair is packed in an individual foil pack and inside both eye masks are separated properly with a plastic sheet.

What is CoQ10? (Summarized from About.com, Mayoclinic.com and other sources)
Other Names: Coenzyme Q10, Co Q10, Ubiquinone, Vitamin Q

Coenzyme Q10 (or CoQ10) is a natural chemical compound that we make in our bodies and consume in our diets, primarily from oily fish, organ meats such as liver, and whole grains. It is lipid (fat) soluble. It resides in the energy-producing part of cells and is involved with producing a key molecule known as adenosine-5-triphosphate (or ATP). Remember ‘Adenosine’ is also one of the contents of the SKIN79 BB Cream that I had reviewed. It is a DNA component that CoQ10 helps to generate. Other than running the DNA factory, CoQ10 also is beneficial in the following conditions – heart condition, diabetes, lowering cholesterol, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer.

For the skin’s benefit – it fights against the free radicals damage that our body is constantly facing and which causes the premature signs of aging.

My experience with Guardian Q10 Eye Mask:

Learnt the lesson, that do not judge the product by its price. I had put it away only because the price seemed too low for its claims and contents. CoQ10 is a pretty expensive ingredient; however, to my delight, it seems to deliver what it promises. Of course nothing like a miracle, but I can notice some difference already after using it 3 times so far.

I kept the packs in the fridge. The cooling sensation on the eyes is always relaxing. How do I know if it’s working? First of all, if something tingles or stings moderately on your skin, it is a sign that the active substances are penetrating the epidermis, that is, the outer layer of the skin. I have done enough research on it since I make my own lotions and potions 🙂

As soon as I put the mask on, the skin starts to tingle and stings just a little bit on contact. The tingling lasts only for about 30 seconds. Then, just the cooling, refreshing, moist feeling that lasts even after removing the mask.

If I don’t have time to lie down with the masks on, I just squeeze the serum from the mask on my palm and massage it all over the face. Out of a pair, only one mask is enough for this method. Also, the whole face receives the nutrition.

Result – I noticed the difference only recently when I clicked my shot for the SKIN79 BB Cream review. I’ve always had dark circles due to the genetics, but there were 1-2 very fine lines around the outer corner of my eyes, which would later develop into the crow’s feet if neglected. I don’t want to kid myself, but in the snaps they were not noticeable. So, I would like to believe that even if not completely eliminated, they have smoothened out a little bit.

8. I’d like to believe that it softens the wrinkles.

Negatives of Guardian Q10 Eye Mask

1. May not be available in India.
2. Not sure if it would do any good for the dark circles, have to use for a long-term to judge on that note.

Rating: 10/10

Definitely yes! If it is not available in India, you can try to find some other product with CoQ10 in it.
