My Experience with Gucci Luxe Finishing Powder
Gucci has quite literally nailed it’s face makeup. I absolutely Love the Gucci Foundation and the Concealer pen. This powder is no different. I got it in shade 040 – medium. It’s quite yellow based. The powder is available in 6 different shades starting from light to dark. Since it is not a full-on coverage powder, 6 shades would suit a whole lot of skin tones and undertones.
Let’s start with the packaging. It’s a gorgeous round black packaging. There is a beautiful double’ G’ logo embossed on the top. I wouldn’t consider it as a the most bag- friendly packaging considering it is not so small that it wouldn’t take any space in your bag. But still it can be carried around in most bags and medium clutches. It is a double compartment packaging. The bottom half holds the brush and the top half holds the powder. I adore the packaging because I perfect to use these small brushes for touch ups and the double compartment keeps things more hygienic and neat. There is a lovely round mirror attached inside the lid. The best, it has a magnetic closure. It’s actually quite a flaunt worthy packaging. I mean you would definitley want to take it out in the public for the touch ups! 😀
The brush that comes with it is super soft and dense. But it is also fluffy enough that it distributes the powder across evenly.
The powder has the Gucci logo embossed pretty deep into it. But as you use it the logo would start fading.
The powder is very finely milled and sort of loosely packed. When you swipe a brush across it, the brush picks up a lot of powder. Plus it scatters a bit around the edges as well. That said, it gives the most beautiful finish. It’s like a little sheer veil it puts across to finish off your base makeup. It’s soft smooth and neither too matte nor too glowy. But I would still put it as a matte finish powder. I mostly use it on my T zone when I have done full makeup since it is winters these days. When I wear it on its own, I do feel the need to use a glowy blush because I personally am not a huge fan of super matte base makeup. The powder is neither drying nor moisturising. In fact the texture is such that it would work even for those with oily-combination skin because of its oil controlling properties.
On most days I just like to pop concealer and finish things with a powder. Even though this powder has a sheer coverage, it makes skin look quite soft and smooth. It does not accentuate the pores. Does not have any smell . Has never broken me out. The staying powder on bare skin is around 4-5 hours on me and it stays even longer when I have used it on top of the base. I do feel the need to touch up after 4-5 hours just to freshen things up.
Overall, absooooolutely love it. It’s great for touch ups and setting the makeup or even wearing on its own on good skin days. It does not have much of a coverage but it is a setting powder and it does its job darn well for what it is meant to do. 🙂
Definitley give it a go whenever you want to treat yourself with a bit of a luxury. :))
Availability is an issue. Sigh!

Swatch : I have kept the swatches of the foundation and the concealer on the side so that the powder swatch can be ‘seen’. 😀
