Today is my elder baby’s birthday, she is 7, God, so fast!! It seems like yesterday she was a tiny baby in my arms and now she is all grown up, in a few years she is going to be a big girl. Birthday celebrations have been postponed as her father and uncle are out of town, waiting for them to return to have a bash. So coming back to the review, it is a kohl kajal from Guerlain, read on further to see how it fared for me.

My experience with Guerlain Khol Me Kajal – 01 Noir Volcanique

The khol kajal comes in a sleek black packing engraved with golden writings. It is a long pointed tube with a triangle shaped lid to cover the kajal. The lid shuts firmly and thus avoid any kind of damage during travels. The packing looks exactly like a thin and elongated version of a triangle, it looks so classy and elegant, I am in love with the packing. It is quite handy and very easy to apply.

The kajal is medium black in colour, not jet black usually found in certain eyeliners, I wish it were jet black but it glides smoothly on your eyes, be it on the water line, upper lash line or lower lash line, its like a dream. Its so smooth,soft and creamy and does not cause any tugging or pulling. It also does not irritate your eyes in any way. A single swipe will not provide the full intensity of the colour, I had to sweep it 3 to 4 times to get full impact of the colour. It gives a soft shine to your eyes without mattifying it, it is also easily smudgeable but does not give a panda eyes effect.

It has a very good staying power too. The kajal stayed put for over 8 hours for me, 3 to 4 hours on the water line and then it starting fading a bit but the colour never completely vanished. While on the lower lash line it stayed around 8 to 9 hours with light fading in the inner corner of the eye. At the end of the day I had to use a make-up remover to completely remove the kajal from my eyes. The staying power of the product also depends upon the intensity of how you apply the kajal, if you apply it lightly it might fade a bit faster. I use it as an eye liner and an eye shadow for a smoky effect.

Even though it is expensive I love the feel it gives to my eyes, as always there is a problem with the precision when the kajal becomes blunt.  I love this product and I always reach out to it while applying my eye makeup.

• Very soft, smooth and creamy which glides on easily without any tugging or pulling.
• It is very easy to blend because of the softness of the kajal
• Does not give ‘panda eyes’ even though it is easily smudgeable, it does not budge unless and until we touch it or remove it.
• The intensity of the khol can be adjusted according to our taste and style, it can be applied lightly if you want a soft and subtle look, while on the other hand it can intensified for a real dramatic look.
• It has an amazing staying power too, around 8 to 9 hours with light fading.
• It does not cause any irritation to sensitive eyes
• The khol kajal comes in an elegant and sleek packing which is very travel friendly.

In the EOTD I have used the khol kajal as an eye shadow, on the upper waterline, lower waterline and lower lash line for the ultimate smoky effect.

Cons of Guerlain Khol Me Kajal- 01 Noir Volcanique

• The kajal is not jet black in colour, where some of us prefer an intense black.
• It is on the expensive side, but worth trying if you intend to splurge once in a while.
