IMBB Sponsored Product Review
Off late I am on a radiance trip – meaning, I am getting attracted towards all things which add glow, radiance, highlighting, etc. Its interesting. Till now my only experience with this category of product was the Bobbi Brown Shimmer bricks and very recently, MAC Strobe Lotion but now I am intrigued to try the Benefit high beam, Hourglass Ambient powders, Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder. Another product fitting in this category is the iconic product fom Guerlain – Meteorite Voyage Pressed Powder – something which has been on my lust list since ages! IMBB made my day (and month) by allowing me to bring this baby home! This is not really a highlighter though – it’s a whole new product category – a finishing product to be dusted onto your face to add subtle radiance! Not shimmer, not highlighting but “radiance”! So does it do that? Is it worth the hype? Lets find out…
The Product (from the website):
Météorites Voyage, the quintessence of colour-blending expertise is revealed in an exceptional case to reproduce the purest radiance on the skin. A blend of matte and pearly shades, an ingenious mixture of six correcting or light-enhancing colours to deliver the purest radiance to all complexions: pink to refresh the complexion, green to diminish redness, white for a brighter complexion, mauve to catch the light, gold and pearl to add a perfect touch of radiance to the face… The complexion appears even, radiant and luminous with a soft, light and matte finish. Its single shade, Mythic, offers universal correction and natural brightening of the complexion. Refillable powder case.
Fragrance: Pleasure for the eyes and senses… Météorites Voyage powder announces the return of sunny days with its delicate and inimitable violet scent. An addictive fragrance…
Application: The ideal Météorites brush is the perfect density to take just the right amount of powder. Apply the powder evenly to entire face to create a soft halo of light. Concentrate on the middle of the face, from the hairline to the base of the neck, to boost the highlighting effect.
$175.00 in US / INR 8850 for 8gms
A little disappointing to have only 8 gms of product for that price tag.
It consists of a heavy metal compact with what I think is enamel detailing.. . though it gives impression of mother of pearl. The compact is fairly heavy – not ideal to be slipped into your clutch but is slim enough, in case you do want to take it along. It comes with a velvet sleeve to help prevent scratches onto the metal body.
All in all, the packaging is luxe and screams high-end while still being understated. Love that!
My experience with Guerlain Meteorite Voyage Exceptional Pressed Powder #1 Mythic
The shade I Picked is #01 Mythic – this is the only shade part of the permanent line. New shades of the product get launched periodically as part of an Limited Edition collection like Wulong, Crazy, etc.
The product is a prism of different coloured powders – pink, green, mauve, beige, champagne, pink-gold, white – the colors are supposed to work in harmony. “Three correcting colors: a mauve that catches the light and brightens the complexion, a pink that refreshes tired complexions and a green that reduces redness. Three light-enhancing colors: a white to infuse the complexion with light, with no chalky effect, a champagne to make the skin sparkle and radiate, and a pink gold to unify olive complexions and warm up fair skin tones.” So does it do all that individually? Not quite. Once you swirl your brush through it, what you get is a pretty much translucent powder giving a radiant effect.
IMO, individual effect of the colours will anyways not work because after all the product is a finishing powder. So you will apply it on top of your base (foundation), blush, etc. By the time this one is ready to go onto the face, the redness, sallowness, dullness have already been taken care of by the base makeup. If you were to apply this without makeup on your direct skin, then maybe those colours would come into play but the amount of each would be too negligible to have any individual effect. Know what I mean?
The product is a finely milled, extremely smooth and easy to apply. Although, Guerlain promotes the use of their own Meteorite brush for use with the meteorite pearls and these Meteorite Voyage Exceptional Pressed powder, I used my Estee Lauder Powder Brush for the application.
So, did I like it? I loved it!! Its gives a nice subtle glow – a radiant effect but very very subtle. So there is no shimmer, no glitter (not even fine) – just a glowy radiance. I could not show you pics with this because the effect is so subtle. This is obviously the effect over foundation and blush, etc. The product is a finishing powder but can also double as a setting powder for your makeup.
When I tried the product on my face without any makeup – no primer, no foundation – the effect was non-existent. The product just didn’t show up. This I feel was due to a mix of things – my skintone (NC30), pigmentation on my skin (acne marks / sun damage) and unevenness of the skintone. It might still work without makeup on a clear Caucasian skin tone.
Please note, the product melts into the skin – it is not designed to provide any coverage.

So, DO I recommend Guerlain Meteorite Voyage Exceptional Pressed Powder #1 Mythic?
Hmmmmmm….OK! Let me put it this way – as a product, it is great. But do you really NEED to go out and shell that amount on this – not really. Its not a NEED to have product. You can live without it. But if you have the money for it and have always wondered whether it will work on the Indian skin tone – yes, it does! Albeit, as a finishing product – over your makeup.
And would I repurchase Guerlain Meteorite Voyage Exceptional Pressed Powder #1 Mythic? Yes, when this gets over, I am likely to repurchase. But I will not be breaking into a sweat, if I don’t! Kapish?
